I did notice that some things didn't make sense. It wasn't till my teenage years that I found out it was Macross. Also had it not been for America Transformers wouldn't have been as popular or have such a epic voice actor as Peter Cullan for Optimise Prime. No, I'm not talking about the recent movies either.
@Halo2100 Transformers was more of a success in the states because the genre was new in America but Mecha shows with transforming robots was common in Japan at the time and all of them had a set plot not random adventures with no continuity. Also transformers in America had episodes placed in the wrong order "Starscreams Brigade" being the most famous of flops for the series

Macross, Robotech.....Same Shit, Diferent Versions
Airplanes, Robots, Spaceships, Pilots, Singers.....I appreciate both versions, as an idea than as a franchise.
Macross turned that idea into a version that girls can enjoy the romantic plot ... and that I liked.

@Halo2100 ahh but dragon ball wasn't hard to dub as it was a very easy show to dub and didnt contain half the emotion that SDF Macross carried. what myself and many other Macross fans have a problem with is there is no continuity in the timelines robotech 2&3 project. what happend to the zentran/zeltran? why would you name an organisation after a discovered technology? no military organisation would be seen dead with the name Robotech defense force ITS Pathetic.

but the thing Macross fans in the U.S hate the most is that harmony gold the producers of robotech have bared the rest of the actual Macross time line from being released in America. They wont relinquish the rights to robotech becuse they know that the actual macross time line undermines their own and makes it look sloppy. 1.Not alter storyline's/Time lines or dialogue
2.Never to remove episodes or add in unrelated content with lesser quality animation(this applies to robotech series 2 and 3) in an attempt to pass something off as your own creation.

4. Cutting out bits of movies which leaves the film jumping to random scenes leaving it impossible to understand whats going on
and five Realesing a movie to continue a series which has been dead for over 12 years (that's right robotech shadow chronicles im looking at you) with poor box like designs

@dirge117 Well, I would say I watched Robotech movie back in the late 80's(I was 8) from VHS when it came out. Had it not been for Robotech I wouldn't have known about Macross. I did notice that some things didn't make sense. It wasn't till my teenage years that I found out it was Macross. Also had it not been for America Transformers wouldn't have been as popular or have such a epic voice actor as Peter Cullan for Optimise Prime. No, I'm not talking about the recent movies either.

@Halo2100 Transformers was more of a success in the states because the genre was new in America but Mecha shows with transforming robots was common in Japan at the time and all of them had a set plot not random adventures with no continuity. Also transformers in America had episodes placed in the wrong order "Starscreams Brigade" being the most famous of flops for the series

ONLY animation from Japan is anime America has cartoons everything i have stated previously is an accurate account of what has happened. also america doesnt replicate anime it re-dubs it because american cartoonists cant draw in proportion which is why characters have huge body parts

@dirge117 I know quoting wikipedia is just gonna get me a stfu thrust in my face but I have read this in a book by Jonathan Clements as well "In Japan, the term anime does not specify an animation's nation of origin or style; instead, it serves as a blanket term to refer to all forms of animation from around the world." The Japanese use a lot of abbreviations, especially when trying to translitterate western words into kanji.

it betta be
1: made on a super high budget (so its not shitty and 3d)
2: must have hours on end of work to create just 1 second of effects
3: must be by a great director(s)
(maker of matrix, steven spielberg, peter jackson, and george lucas should team up and make this a movie)

MICHAEL BAY puts attention to detail in transforming vehicles into humanoid robots in very high quality that you would think they actually made real cars to stand up instead of using computer graphics (useful for the veritech modes)
