One thing that annoyed me about Sopranos is how Tony never showed any remorse for killing Christopher. I mean he didn't straight away, which was alright, but it would have been nice if he'd have shown remorse eventually and not killed off in his most selfish form. But I guess there's the message that all bad deeds will be punished in the afterlife or whatever.

@therealist811 as far as tony was concerned, Chris had failed him for the last time, the way he looks at the mangled baby seat in the car before killing him. Chris was back on drugs so tony had the worry once more of chris becoming an informant, as well as lying to tony about seeing julianna. Tony saw the perfect opportunity to finally get rid of chris who by this point had disappointed him over and over, it would have been more emotionally powerful to see tony be remorseful but it would be fake

But I do understand that Tony was pissed off to the max, and that he felt Chris would be a thorn in his future. Chase wanted to end Soprano's with Tony at his most seemingly untoucheable.

I think tony becomes more and more unsympathetic as the series goes on, he becomes spiteful and cruel at times. The tony sitting at the table with his family at the end makes me think of pride before the fall, he has gotten away with so much, been so lucky and as you said he seems almost untouchable, compassion and remorse in the final series' would hinder this image.

@2901Josh I kind of disagree. i think tony grew more and more remorseful but he also became more defensive. he was truly burdened my the murders he had committed in his life. in Sopranos Home Movies he reveals this to Bobby though Bobby thinks he is talking about the feds. also he dreams of discussing this with Melfi but he obviously cannot. Tony is the tragic character because the moral lessons he has learned have no applicability in his life. He cannot be ethical and survive at the same time.
