I dont know I think thats a legit positive streamer. A reflection would be kinda instantanious with the actual lightning. The only bolt in the shot was one that was way far away and the supposed reflection comes too far after it struck. Its also a different shape
i dont blame you but thats a Stream of lightning and it could have been dangerous if the negative poll had found a positive one and create a strike in that location!
Quite obviosly a ghosting effect. If it had been a bolt it would have been 3 times brighter. And you would also feel the electro magnetic field that it generates. Being caught in a magnetic field causes you to temporarily lose sensation in your hands and sometimes body too, the effects only last a few seconds.
That is a ghost leader, if it was as close as u think it is you would know...trust me from experience lol! Your ears would be ringing and lightning can kill up to 9 feet away if not farther.
It did not hit the front porch. What you see is called a ghsoting effect. What you actualy see is that a lightning bolt reflects on your camera. If lightning struck that close, you would feel the heat and power!
I agree, it is a reflection in the lens assembly due to the brightness of the strike in the distance...what you see is a "copy" of the bolt in the distance.

CAn't make my mind up - certainly either a streamer, or a reflection on the camera lens.

I've seen that kind of thing before when I've known for a fact that it didn't hit anywhere near me, its an optical illusion.

It's a ghost leader. Just after the ghost leader, there's a lightning strike somewhere behind the tree and I think it was the main bolt.

This is a positive streamer that didn't connect. No bolt struck near you.

streamers are still enough to kill. The main bolt could still follow it too if it "chose" to.
