Peter Steele will be so missed, and I mean NO disrespect by this, but the band obviously dies with him, unless they decide to go on without him, tho I CANNOT see a replacement for Pete. I usually just stealthily read comments, mainly because I'm usually on mobile, but the rare occasion I can get to my computer, I sometimes leave a few comments and go about my day. R.I.P. Petrus, you are sorely missed.
awsome song take me back to my younger years when life was just being to unfold for me back when being a kid and playin with my friends for what seem like forever i never what to leave this place my own sanctuary away from realty away from chaos :) p.s. peace and love from heaven above may pete rock the skys as he did on earth.the journey is just begening
Its been 2 years since his absence.. Seems liek it was just yesterday he was makin' a fool of himself, spreading comfort and being oh so generous and modest... Happy birthday, Jolly Green Giant.
This is the song that commanded me to love Type O. It sucks so bad that Pete died. I'm not afraid to say that I cry thinking that they won't make music together anymore. FUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!
I was born on the year this was released and now 15 years later I am a huge fan of Type O Negative , there just like no other , and in my opinion there is no greater . My favourite album by them , peter steele is dead but his legendary music will live on. I miss him more than my two grandads put together . Sounds a bit harsh but we lost a god that was giving us music that isn't from this world but made with some our instruments TON forever.
this is one of my favorite albums from type o very gloomy and gothy.we will miss you pete but you live in your music and type o will be my. favorite band even after i rot and die!
the Boston Strangler was originally referred to as "the Green Man". just an observation. R.I.P. Peter. my favorite time of the year is not the same without you, but without you it probably wouldnt be my favorite time of year.thank you so much
Of all the TON tracks this is my favourite. It makes me feel both uplifted and sad at the same time (which is a common thing with many of Pete's songs I guess but this one is just special). RIP Pete.
@999klondike I understand why you think that. I only feel that way with Dead Again but still enjoy a few songs.. World Coming Down is an amazing album as well. I had to warm up to Life is Killing Me but it really is a great album in my opinion.
I remember buying this album when it came out without hearing any song on it yet. (I already owned Bloody Kisses). I remember putting it in and listening to it all the way through. It was one of those rare moments when you just sit there and all you can say is: holy #$#&. I still feel that way so many years later. I saw them in Tulsa later that year (96 or 97?) on tour. During the bridge in Green Man where it slows down a bit this machine shot out foam that looked like snowflakes. It was awesome

@PlanarCollapse And the late Diamond "Dimebag Darrell" Abbott of course. I'm sure those that are with them are getting some really great music too not to forget it's a free show. May they all rest in peace. We'll see them again!
the day i heard type o for first time..back in 95 or 96..wolf moon was on the radio..i loved the sound..the voice..the depth and darkness..i rushed out the following day to buy the album and became instantly enchanted...and still listen to it every single day..its like the theme music to my life..and for that i thank type o negative..my favorite musical discovery.
I havent listened to ToN for many years. Now, comming back and listening to them again, I remember why I liked them so much. I seriously had no clue that ToN had such an extreme cult like following. Its incredible...
@niall720 Damn, 16.. seems like it was all just a couple days ago this was released. All of their material seems as so when i hear it now. Time just passes us all too quickly...
Peter Steele: “After my mother passed away last year and a couple of other things happened, I pretty much got back to my faith. I was born Roman Catholic. I go to church on Sunday and I do read the Bible. I went to confession for the first time in 30 years. And the priest was very happy that I had come back to church.I’ve always thought that the meaning of life was to try to find something to live for. Now I realize, all this time, it is finding something to die for. I will die for my faith.
Type O has affected my life so much i have listened to there music for years it killed me when i found out we all lost peter i was in prison at the time may he rest in peace . much love and respect to all the fans and to the band. peter we will never forget you thank you for changing our lives, you will always be remembered

This, my friends, is probably the most beautiful and touching song ever created. It brings tears to my eyes every time i listen to it. But today the tears are more abundant. Rest in piece, Peter. We all miss you. You'll inspire me forever.
@Th3Black0men It does for me too. They (Type O Negative) have really made an imprint on my life as well as alot of you. I LOVE all their albums but this has to be my fav. RIP Type O
I never listened to this band, and then someone posted this song to my Facebook page. It just swallowed me whole. It went straight to my core and was like finding an old friend again. Maybe I'll give them a listen, even after the lead singer's passing. Some music is simply immortal.
@Raevynschylde You should definitely listen to more TON. This album is amazing along with all their others. I never had a band do what they did to me. They changed me for the better.
@pdeere436 --thanks. No better place than to find them here. Recommendations, anyone? I want to expand my listening repretoire, think i tapped into something good.
@Raevynschylde Hmm.. I started off with their third album Bloody Kisses. It's an outstanding record. My favorites off it would be blood and fire, too late (frozen), bloody kisses and christian women. After I listened to that non stop for awhile I decided to check out their first album. I love the album but its not what you think of when you it comes to TON. Then I moved on to this album (October Rust) which I think is a masterpiece, and world coming down is an amazing record too.
spring did not come, and no matter how beautiful the weather,i will remain sorrowed that peter is not here. his voice lifts my spirits no matter how dark the day is. i think of this man and look at pics and listen to to his music and talk of him everyday since he left us. today is march 20 2011. there is nothing wrong with me i know, 'cause i know you all feel the same way about this beautiful and talented soul........ remember him always R.I.P. OUR LORD PETER :(
@clematisian,Pete was brought up Catholic. His mother Nettie was ultra devout. He had 8 years catholic school. He did not convert to catholicism, but merely returned to it,when faced with death, as many do.His testimony gave me the courage to return after 10 years. I suspect I am not the only one.I believe he struggled with religion his whole life. His music is filled with subversive catholic references."Sheep in Wolfskin''as he said.
@brnleague99' In a way... I believe the uniform Peter wore while working for the sanitation department was green. But the lyrics describe The Green Man, a nature god/spirit representing the eternal birth of spring and renewal of nature from the cold death of winter. He appears throughout history in many different countries and religions, and adorns many churches, although he is a pagan entity.
Damn right. Pete's passing was like a kick in the balls; except the pain and discomfort is lasting a lot longer. This band really did matter to us. Pete was a genius. How the hell did he express our feelings so well? RIP Green Man, I miss you brother
Belive it or not Free energy is real,But the Big corporations spend millions to ensure that information does not spread to the masses,Get a motor that works with the power of magnets only at LT-MAGNET-MOTORdotCOM ,Start the revolution!
Unlimited energy sources are out there! But Elite controllers don't want ppl to be free from the costs of energy,if you want a real Free energy Magnet Motor, get the blueprints at LT-MAGNET-MOTORdotCOM ,Let the revolution begin!
i think this song shows how sensitive and deep ton music is its hard not to be touched by the sweeping melody of this song it reachs deep into primal bones
This song is so beautiful it makes me teary eyed most of the time I hear it. I wish I could have seen them live before Peter's tragic death. He was a brilliant musician. Happy Samhain everyone!!! <3 R.I.P. Steele.
The Green Man is a strange image of a leafy man that's carved into many ancient locations all over the world. No one knows what they are, but they're very creepy and awe-inspiring. Many architects past and present have included the Green Man in their designs as a tribute. It's not Wiccan, Wicca was invented in the 1900s for God's sake.
Thank you for un-knowingly giving me a reason to wake up... 10 years after... i'm happy to be alive.... may you find the peace in death you couldn't find in life RIP
OMG, TEARS! cant stop them every time I hear this song! it fills my heart with warmth! thank you peter and type 0 for making this song..god bless you all and R.I.P peter Much love and respect!
the begining of this song is epic. Even for TON. Lots of my ex girlfriends cant listen to this album because it reminds them of the sweet giggidy we made whilst listening to this album. Such sweet sorrow befalls them. Thanks Peter for everything, you and your skills will be missed.
Peter Steele will be so missed, and I mean NO disrespect by this, but the band obviously dies with him, unless they decide to go on without him, tho I CANNOT see a replacement for Pete. @2280laura I'm 43. It's funny but Type O made music that was timeless. I loved it, RIP Peter.

Life is fleeting yet
Some people leave behind
A sacred fragment of their soul
I am crying listening to this...

This song is so beautiful it makes me teary eyed most of the time I hear it. I wish I could have seen them live before Peter's tragic death. He was a brilliant musician. Happy Samhain everyone!!! <3 R.I.P. Steele.

This song reminds me of TS Eliot's poem called "The Wasteland".

The Green Man is a strange image of a leafy man that's carved into many ancient locations all over the world. No one knows what they are, but they're very creepy and awe-inspiring. Many architects past and present have included the Green Man in their designs as a tribute. It's not Wiccan, Wicca was invented in the 1900s for God's sake.

the begining of this song is epic. Even for TON. Lots of my ex girlfriends cant listen to this album because it reminds them of the sweet giggidy we made whilst listening to this album. Such sweet sorrow befalls them. Thanks Peter for everything, you and your skills will be missed.
