Just wanting to be different is not a great reason to buy something. The merit of the product should be paramount, as well as the producing company itself.

Personally I'm waiting for my Zune 120 in the mail because it holds a shitload of music and video (I'm on the road a lot), it doesn't have a touchscreen (I'm not a fan of touchscreens) and I'd rather not support Apple because of their purchase of Emagic which affects me as a PC musician.

When I had a 120GB, I spent a week trying to get the lemon to work. First I had to go a friend's house to get software (had no internet at the time). After trying to install, it simply my PC had to be updated. Trying to figure out what had to be updated., I FINALLY installed it, the Zune wasn't detected, after more work. It was suddenly detected, very happy I was about to sync some songs...and it said internet access required. Ended up returning it for an 160gb ipod which works great. Fuck Zune.

One thing I really hate about the zune 120 is no auto shut down. Does the HD have an auto shut down? If I want to listen to music before bed I can't use my zune because it won't shut down after X amount of minutes.

I just got this recently - my first mp3. I'm diggin' it - love the large screen - except for one thing. I'm disappointed that I can't apply the shuffle feature to just one artist or genre - it's either all or nothing. Like I'd love to put just all my Dylan or Zep on shuffle. I for one have been set on buying a Zune HD since the first previews trickled out, but if the 80 or 120 is offered at a great price I might get that instead, as i imagine many others will.

i have an old zune and an ipod classic. if you want to go for consitancy then ipod is the shit! it doesn't mess up... my zune messes up all the time, and it is easy to put stuff onto my ipod. but zune looks better, has the radio, and it has a larger screen! i like the zune but it has so many problems that ipod wins. i'm still getting a zune 120 cause i need a new zune and i love that u can change the background and that it has a big screen!

Neither. lol. I like them both equally the same. They're both good. Zune has a lot of harddrive space for more music/video. The iPod Touch has wireless capabilities for Safari, and has the apps and pretty cool games to pass time. So they're both good for what they do. I got a zune cause its always been ipod for me, and i just wanted to try something different for a change.. and i gotta say, the only thing i got different was mostly appearance hahaha.

I bought a Zune 120 gb and was not satisfied. Straight from the box the sound quality was not good. Most songs were either sub-par or just terrible. I was using my Sennheiser HD 202 headphones. It doesn't have EQ settings like the iPod does, it felt cheaply built and is actually more expensive. And who cares about a radio? You buy it to store music. I took it back the next day and bought a classic 120 gb. Bad deal from MS.

All songs were clean off their albums. Nothing downloaded. Not sure of their bitrates. A friend is bringing his dad's Zune to work today so I can check it out. Doesn't really matter though because my iPod already has 3800+ songs on it. Oh well.

When I compare my Zune 8 to my iPod Classic 80 GB, the Zune has a better sound stage and the highs are a bit more sharp if that makes any sense. I use ATH-AD700s and overall I think the Zune sounds better. The iPod sounds a bit muddy in comparison, but not too bad. Then again, you may just prefer a laid-back sound quality seeing as you have Sennheiser headphones, but I can't see how you could call the sq terrible especially after being content with iPod sq.

I think the only problem with buying a Zune if your in the UK is the coverage of support, e.g If it breaks etc. Most of the places that sell it are just retailers who have bought it from America etc. Which is why i decided to stick with something that actually has 'Apple' shops to help me if I ever have problems. Besides, I do actually prefer the Zune. Just the software and popularity over here in the UK sucks atm :(((
