  • My mum used to have one of these machines, bought it new in 1979,Just before i was born, and kept it until 1987.

  • wow love these washers!

  • can you do some videos of thease machines in acteion?

  • @thekylejohn1 .... not for the moment, I am afraid. The variable 18580 is now at its new home, whilst the purple one requires an outer tub repair. Nothings ever simple in vintage appliances!

  • Lol, I never forget a sound like that!!

  • Ha! Is that a Hoovermatic De-luxe I can hear in the background? Lol. Sudsreturn.

  • @jaredini ... yep! its a T5054 Hoovermatic de luxe.

  • what about the Hotpoint 9928 washer dryer

  • Very relaxing video depicting two very popular machines in their day. They both look so clean and refreshed. Roll on washday for you Paul!

  • @TheJamesRankin ....cheers James. Will hopefully get the purple jobby up and running soon.

The 18580 will be being delivered to its new owner shortly and, barring some scratching on the right hand bodyside, is in storming external condition - should be a nice machine - another 18580 is safe! I make that 4 or 5 in safe hands, plus Lee's lightly differently coloured 18680.

  • cool video, they are both good Hotpoint Washing Machines. which on are you filming first? I bet I can guess what year they are both from. The one with the purple door from 1975 and the Hotpoint 18580 or 18680 which ever one it is 1979 or 1980.

  • @hotpointking ... how do there. Dont know which one will be filmed first - got some hectic wekends ahead, one of which might be delivering the 18580 to its new owner. If that gets done soon, then it will probably be the 18580 that will be a star of a show first.

  • @matchbox3236h are you the one who has it for sale on ebay for £90? very good price

  • @ilovemiele1 .... not for sale on ebay. It was bought off it though, though I hasten to add that its not my machine. Will be heading to its new owner shortly.

  • @matchbox3236h cool, was it a collector who bought it?

  • @ilovemiele1 ... yep, its assured of a good home with many other machines.

  • @matchbox3236h thank god for that because i was just worried anyone could just bid and buy it lol

  • @ilovemiele1 .... nah - its safe, though requires a new door seal and the motor bearings need looking at as its a bit screechy.

  • @hotpointking ... years of introduction:

    The purple machines

    1850 - March 1973

    1851 - January 1975

    1851/03 - September 1975

    1828/01 - June 1976

1828/02 - pre production December 1976 / production February 1977 (my machine is from November 1977)

    1828/07 - June 1978

The clear door series was introduced in June 1979, with the 18580 in the video dating from April 1980.
