I've heard all three of these guys live. I saw Todisco with a wig in tights - he looked much better than he does here. Alas he didn't sound much better. He was loud but crude. Bergonzi always looked like a potato. He wasn't loud at all but had a beautiful basic sound and the best Verdi style of any tenor before or since. Bonisolli here is deep into his third period where he acts oddly on stage and shouts rather than sings - except for his High Cs of course. He is almost a tragic figure.
I hope that Gigli, wherever he stays, could smile over these excerpts. Bergonzi, who was a refined tenor, should be present, but not singing, since past glories may result in sad situations.Bonisoli is a Corellian opposite of the stylish Gigli, not to mention his circus jumping at the finale... Good intentions, awkward results. R.I.P.,dear Gigli.

1990-1924. So how old was Mr. Bergonzi at that time? He sang great for his age.
simsa21 3 years ago
absolutely right. My father told me he is not very well these days.

66 years old listen to ivan Kozlovsky at 80 years of age sing high D spot on the key and Bergonzi couldn´t hit one note above G here!
