i literally tried EVERYTHING, moving the file, different usb ports, different versions of rsd lite (4.6-4.9), but nothing worked. NOTHING. then i decided to use the newest version. it worked like a charm.

Is there any way I could get you guys to delete this video? I post (and host) information about the Motorola A855 (Droid 1) phone, and this method for rooting it is so old, it should have cobwebs on it.

No offence intended, but it suggests the use of the file SPRecovery_ESE81.sbf which will at this point cause nothing but problems for most if not ALL Motorola A855 (droid 1) phones since they have all now been updated to a much newer version of Android.

forgive my newb-question: but does this process only apply to the Motorola Droid? i have a Samsung DROID Charge...and this seems to be a MUCH easier process to gain root access than the "standard" rooting of an Android phone.

so - this is obviously rather focused on the Moto Droid (or, perhaps you could use the same procedure on any Droid phone that has a physical keyboard - but i'm not sure if the software being used is Moto-specific).

that being said, my question is actually "is there a similar procedure to this that can be used for a non-Moto Droid (ie - my Charge)"?

I think I may have bricked my droid, the boot screen keeps replaying...I'm trying to use RSDlite and flash a 2.2.2 back onto my droid..it keeps giving me FAILED..any help?

But are you able to do RSDlite as "Run as Administrator"?

I right click on it and the option is not available to me?

For anyone wondering what to do when the File Details do not fill in after selecting the sbf file this is what worked for me. All I had to do was move the sbf file to the root C: drive. Everything worked prefect then. I am running Win7 32-bit.

Can't flash my milestone anymore.. After few good flashes, RSD lite 4.6 / 4.7 or 4.8 shows the message "PHONE IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH MULTI-INTERFACE SUPER-FILE (0X703B). SPRecovery didnt work too.. Any ideas???? Im using now android 2.2.1 canadian ROM (telus).

Im trying to downgrade from Android 2.2 to 2.1 using CyanogenMod 6.0, Build Number FRG22D as my phone will not reset or load any new Mods or Mod updates...I researched it online and I've already loaded the32 bit for my computer, run RSD lite as an adminstrator and just went to the link to download SPRecovery_ESE81.sbf but the problem I have is that the SPRecovery_ESE81.sbf does not show any file properties when using RSD lite 4.6.....I need to get this corrected ....Have any suggestions...Thanks

I did it to the point where you have to find the file, i opened the file in RSD and it wouldnt give me the option to "start"...and none of that info came up on the right panel...only the left panel when i highlighted my phone...im running on admin and everything, whats going on...

Same comment as everyone else. Comp is a 64bit Vista Ultimate, but when I try to open rsdlite_4.6.rar the computer doesn't recognize .rar as a program. I have no problem unzipping zipped files, but this file doesn't appear to be compressed. If it is, what program would I need to unzip it?

I remember of my Window Mobile days, .rar is a program file that the phone would read not my pc

I also tried to go into C:Programs/Motorola and find the MotoConnect application, but that won't open either.

@erasmussen14 use 7-zip... rar is a compression type file like zip that is extremely prominent in p2p clients for downloading smaller files but in this case 7-zip would be a better choice to un-zip it

can you help me please. i am following your directions and i download the SP recovery to my download folder in window vista. when i click on the ... icon and select the file information does not populate to the window to the right in RSD light. I went ahead and said change the read only file... When i went to clearing data/ ?? it said install aborted cant find file...
