How I miss watching the old NWA TV studio Matches from the territorial days! Wrestling was so much better than! Notice how these athletes were called Wrestlers and they used wrestling holds. The interviews were kept down to a minimum instead of todays 20 plus minutes of rambling on! Thanks a lot Vince McMahon for ruining a once great sport!
The shallow people who rate current WWE stars above Ric Fliar as the all time greatest are simply ignorant of videos such as this. Ric Flair is like the movie "A Field of Dreams..." There has always been one constant and that is BASEBALL. And I say the same thing with Fliar. Build a ring and he will come.
the commentator is without a shadow of a doubt the best commentator in american wrestling history. he has an wonderful graspof the english language. the sound in these georgia wrestling things is amazing also the thud on the matt is butifully miked
Quite a short match. This match took place when Black Bart was not quite the big name he was in 1985 and '86. He hardly put up any opposition towards Flair at all except one a couple of blows and line one kick! I guess everyone has to get their start from somewhere. Nevertheless, an interesting match though. Nice video. Also, Ric Flair as his flamboyant self as usual!
no Flair had not been the NWA World Champ yet. This match was April 4, 1981- Flair won the first of his 16 world championships on I believe Sept 19 of 81.
well he captured his first singles title in February 8, 1975. It was September 17, 1981 when he got his First NWA heavyweight title at the top of the food chain so to speak... When he beat Dusty Rhodes
This is well after the crash. The crash was pretty early in his career (late 75). This is a few months before his first title win (September 81). He seems quick because he's in his physical prime.
Flair before his first reign as NWA World's Heavyweight Champion. Tommy Rich would soon wear it, followed by Harley Race, Dusty Rhodes, then Flair. Ah, the good old days.
If you listen to the interview, you will hear Solie say how Flair is the top contendor, followed closely by Tommy Rich. The then talks about Harley Race, who is the champ.
Best physical condition flair was ever in during his career.

You can barely go three words without misspelling something, how are you a judge of a "wonderful graspof the english language"?

only Flair could pull off pink shorts..lol
Mase379 3 years ago 4
agreed, you have to be a special man to wear pink trunks, a pink robe and still be the baddest wrestler of them all.
Flair is the best.
x170063 2 years ago 5
Ric Flair of course is awesome! However, Black Bart was actually a underrated worker. The guy could really move & bump for a 300+ pounder.
