E.g. no rejection based on preexisting conditions, all applications must be accepted, no more than 2 to 1 ratio for older or sicker applicants.

True, but there's also more to a human than a brain. For my part I'd prefer to have a publicly owned nonprofit alternative to the corporate interests driven only by profit motive, hence my comment on corporate dicksucking. Public systems work better in every other developed country just fine, nothing to think it won't do so in this country as well, assuming the bill is actually written properly.

1 - 10s-of-millions of enrollees

2 - only public opt-ers get subsidized

3 - option open to all comers

4 - authorized to use Medicare's bargained-down reimbursement rates

5 - insurance companies have to honor the pub op's new-legal-minimum benefits pkg.

Yeah, I think it comes down to campaign finance reform (real reform) and the corrupting influence that corporate personhood has on democracy. Also the people (you and me and everyone else) actually need to get organized as a coherent block. A citizens union would work nicely in that regard.

Pres. Obama should have done this from the start. He should have started out with Single Payer, negotiated and accepted the Public Option, and left the gridlock on Capitol Hill to wallow in their own mess.

He knew the rapid right was looking for his "Waterloo", so I don't know why he handed his power and popularity to Congress to play politics with.

I hope Obama learns in the future that he needs to be the point man on the issues that got him elected.
