to play guitars without strumming you quite a bit of distortion and hit the strings really hard unless you have light guage strings then you dont have to tap as hard. but you cant play full chords without strumming you have to play individual notes. Are you referring to Angus Young playing thunderstruck?

due to high distortion, the notes get good sustain, and you can tap the frets, pull off, hammer on, etc. Anything that causes vibration of the string will do... Again, high levels of distortion makes it easier

Fenders are only good for a soft-rock/blues/country kinda genre

i would say that X-Plorers are the best kind of guitar, because theyre sound range is so wide and are very resiliant to damage when on the road and such. the shape is cool and the neck is extremely thin, amazing action

As far as I'm aware, X-Plorer is not a brand, but a body shape. There's tons of brands having models with an explorer-style body, including Gibson, ESP, Jackson, Dean and many more.

pickups dont have distortion, distortion comes from the amount of gain (how high the gain is set) on your amp. and harmonics can be done on any guitar. you can do harmonics on the shittiest of guitars at least i can.
