  • I remember watching this as a kid, preferred this to the Adams Family. I also only recently found out Yvonne also played the character of Sephora in The Ten Commandments :)

  • Just watched this episode on Netflix and came straight here to fav this scene, love it!!!

  • One of the coolest characters created for one of the coolest shows ever. Too bad they don't make shows/movies like that anymore.

  • This is an AWESOME song!!!!

  • Lookee here, I know a gal just like her and she lives just over yonder!

  • love this woman rip lily x

  • Oh how I simply LOVED this hilarious episode!!! This was one of my favorite episodes along with the episode of Lily getting a job or the modeling episode where grand pa changed himself into a sexy blonde and Herman into a rich Texan to make Lily jealous at the fashion show and quit modeling. I think it was an acknowledgement of the women's lib movement that men didn't want women working and gaining independence but to stay home have babies, clean house, depend upon them and their silly whims!

  • That was beautiful :)

  • the most beautiful vampire I have ever seen! she was a great character!

  • In the vortex of the future of the cool tomorrow land We'll all wait there Play a gig there In that great non-union band Scooba doo And Scooba daba Life's a gas And life’s a grabba Hip is hip And groove is groovy Life's a wild Fellini movie When that hairy fist of silence Slugs us Bugs us Puts us down... Hmm, We'll all wing it We'll all sing it Guy Lombardo's back in town!
  • I ADORE LILY MUNSTER!

  • Jo Stafgord made a recording of this song. The first time I heard it I kept wondering to myself, "I've heard this song before, but where?" It took a little while for me to figure it out, ut finally it came to me.

  • classic.

  • LOVE LOVE YOU LILY!!!!

  • herman is sooo cute! hahaha

  • I love this episode! Is this an actual song or just something they came up for Yvonne to sing?

  • @soaringtonewheights It's a well-known American folk song.

  • LOVE YOU LILY!!!!!! X10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

  • I wish it was actually get playing... :p

  • A killer song !

  • My favorite episode of the munsters because of this performance, the only time we get to see Lily play the harp. Awsome!!!

  • it's great, and yet i wish they had refrained from putting that background laughter in it.

  • Yvonne DeCarlo had a magnificent voice.

  • Just goes to show. Reptilians can have heart and soul and are not always evil.

  • Neat single. A side, "Dry Bones" by Herman Munster. B side, "Look Away" by Lily Munster. Number One with a silver bullet!!

  • Glad they gave Yvonne a chance to sing on the show since she really was a singer of no little ability. Nice post!

  • I didn't know that lily plays harp!!!! so I guess that's a strange clasical instrument.... I play it though!

  • Classic song by a classic cool gal!

  • didnt she sing a song on the ten commandments

  • awww so pretty <3

  • i wonder whether there is anyone who prefers "the munsters today" to the original munsters series. even john schuck likely preferred the original, even if he wouldn't admit to it. if someone prefers "the munsters today", it's likely someone who has seen hardly any of the original series. i can't imagine what it would be like to see "the munsters today" without already being very familiar with the original series. nevertheless, john schuck was good in some other shows.

  • @coventrygardens

I know people well into their 30's and 40's who brag they would never watch a movie if it was in black and white.

  • @ysbaddaden2003 hey, you're the same one who helped me out in regard to the mulled wine in the mel brooks video. i guess you're following me around on youtube. it would be a pretty big coincidence if you just came upon this video without trying to follow me around. lol

-------------- if someone refuses to watch tv shows and movies in black and white, s/he would likely make an exception for shows that s/he enjoyed back when the person was younger, back before color shows became so dominant.

  • The show was funny because the "monsters"are actually more intelligent, and talented than the "normal" people.

  • didn't need to add the "laugh track" inserts in this. very lovely bit.

  • Yvonne Decarlo was a singer AND an actress people forget that. Back in the 40's she was the bomb.

  • Yvonne DeCarlo had a beautiful singing voice.

  • Lily Munster Rules Rock on Lily!!!!!!!!

  • Lilly Munster the original living dead girl.

  • I am supposedly realated 2 her, lol. Good one great Aunt!

  • Beautiful. People still remember this song and continue to enjoy it after all these Years. I like when Herman starts crying

  • Very moving song...Many thanks Yvonne!!

  • We miss you Yvonne. Why did you have to leave us? So desperately Sad.

  • iLUV IT!

  • Such a class act! What an amazing voice and actress. My younger brother still thinks she's playing the harp and he's over 40 now! I thought that too when I was a kid but realized later that wasn't the case. Either way it's one of the best episodes and displays of true talent from the wonderful cast. Yvonne was such a classy lady. There will never be another. She was such a gift. Rest in Peace, dear lady.

  • i LOVE THIS!!^_^

  • ya got me and Hoymen cryin

  • heheheh! ^_^

  • Herman crying...LOL

  • ILY Yvonne Your are my idol!

    Rest in peace (L)

  • May you rest in peace Yvonne. You are in my prayers!

  • Beautiful voice...

  • This song almost makes me cry too...because this song could be about yvonne as well. we miss you Classy Lady!!!

  • Rest in Peace Yvonne. They don't make them like you anymore my dear.

  • I miss you MOM.

  • Yvonne has been teaching harp to most of the people who post on YouTube.

  • CLASS!!!!

    She's the Best!

    Underrated as all getup!

  • Yvonne was indeed so underrated as an actress and as an overall talent. she was an unfortunate byproduct of the archaic studio system of the '40's and '50's, which limited her ability to compete for top roles. That system was almost like indentured servitude for so many performers.

  • We love you Yvonne!!!!!

  • the munsters was one of the best shows ever.

  • @hippiefreak66 I agree, but did you see the special where they talked about how unpleasant it was to do the show in those hot and heavy costumes? Al Lewis said he thought the show would eventually kill Fred Gwynne....the costume made him lose about 25 pounds whenever he wore it.

  • i went to amazon, and found the munsters action figures. i ordered a herman action figure. it's good. i think i'll order the rest of the figures.

  • oh yeah love the Munster's thanks so much { E }for that one you play the harp also i nearly forgot

  • ^_^..yes!!..you're welcome Duane..its awesome

  • I Just Love This SOng, Yvonne, she is amazing, i love her, one of my favs, she is awesome.

  • part 2 : Look away, look away, look away over Yandro, On Yandro's high hill, where them white doves are flyin' From bough to bough and a-matin' with their mates, So why not me with mine? For he's gone, oh he's gone away For to stay a little while, But he's comin' back if he goes ten thousand miles. I'll go build me a desrick on Yandro's high hill, Where the wild beasts won't bother me nor hear my sad cry ................ stay a little while, But he's comin' back if he goes ten thousand miles.
  • part 1 : I'm goin' away for to stay a little while, But I'm comin' back if I go ten thousand miles. Oh, who will tie your shoes ? And who will glove your hands? And who will kiss your ruby lips when I am gone? Oh, it's pappy'll tie my shoes, And mammy'll glove my hands, And you will kiss mg ruby lips when you come back! Oh, he's gone, he's gone away, For to stay a little while; But he's comin' back if he goes ten thousand miles.
  • Ivonne was a pop singer in the 50's too, thanks for this song from her in the 60's¡¡¡

  • herman and grandpa are amazingly funny!!

  • I gently weep everytime I hear this...

  • me too

  • Yvonne De Carlo was a moderately famous movie star of the 40s and 50s, mainly B movies. Reportedly, she was initially nervous about playing Lillian Munster because of the ugly makeup (and warned Beverly Owen/Pat Priest not to upstage her). Later, she appeared on the Vicki Lawrence talk show of the 1980s to reunite with Eddie Munster (this is on You Tube). Even in her late 60s, she was still glamorous, although slightly bitchy on that show. She says she dated Howard Hughes back in the day.

  • the vikcy´s interview was in 1995. Yvonne was 73 years old back then. She gained a lot of weight

  • @dasfmn1997

how was she bitchy ? iv watched it ....

  • a few years back, the u.s. postal service issued stamps featuring the universal studios monsters ( including frankenstein's monster, dracula, wolfman, asf. ) i think they should do the same for the munsters, yet there's no reason to include the ugly one ( marylin ). by contrast, i don't think i'd want stamps featuring the addams family. the addams family simply didn't connect with me.

  • she sings very fine, The Standells appear on this chapter too¡

  • she's so beautiful

  • A lovely performance. Thanks for posting.

  • SHE HAD A BEAUTIFUL VOICE .THANK YOU

  • where is spot the dragon

  • When those days arrive...aaah what a wonderful paradise that would be.

    Look away...

  • to sat9terminus-- what are you talking about?? a paradise? how odd.

  • Do you listen to the lyrics...this gentile woman is actually singing.

    Yeah, she also sang.

Would you comb her HAIR? Would you kiss her RUBY lips?

Dude, just look away, never mind whether you know anything, nor whether you know what's going on...your here aren't Ya?

    LOL

  • yea, i've listened to the words, and i've read the words and sheet music, and i've played it on keyboard a little. so long, plain jane.

  • Oh I see it in the description now. Thank you for posting.

  • Wow, This is great. Do you know what episode this is? I have the whole series on DVD and I'd like to see this.

  • The name of the episode is FAR OUT MUNSTERS from season 1

  • I did not remember seeing this one. Thanks, I wonder who was playing the harp? :-)

  • Yvonne de Carlo was herself!

  • Be careful to assume just because her hands are moving does not mean shes playing. Listen closely to the notes and follow her hand work. She is not the one playing this piece. Most likely one of the harpist in LA area. Not every harpist gets their face in a show or movie.

  • FREAKIN LOVELLY!

  • if i had a time machine, i would visit the 60's BEATNIKS and sing with them........

  • This was my favorite episode. Yvonne was true Hollywood Royalty in her day. Love & Miss You!

  • Thank you very much for making me cry. I really love Ms. Yvonne.

  • thank you SO MUCH for posting this...this is my favorite scene from the show...they don't make 'em like Yvonne anymore

  • That was beautiful. Thanks so much for posting this.

  • I love you

    pretty woman

your eyes are very beautiful .

    forever in my heart

    Yvonne de carlo.

  • Not much is known about this song -- It was written during the Civil War (listen to lyrics about the man/soldier going away) and, although popular at the time, its faded into obscurity since with apparently no recorded versions except, of course, for Lily's. Catchy tune, huh?

  • Great post, thanks for the info. Was that really her playing the harp as well? Just curious. Thanks

  • Yvonne Decarlo...RIP...you swinging chick!

    Bandis!

  • Lovely just lovely!!!!!! Bandis!

  • I love you Lily (L

  • She has an amazing voice. This is such a gorgeous song. Anyone happen to know what it is?

  • Not to mention that she was an incredibly beautiful woman in real life. :)
