It is interesting that a magnificent artist such as Barbra can inspire such vitriol from commentators here. Here is a woman who cares deeply for the entire human race, that has such love for life. The kind of boorish behavior exhibited here is antithetical to Barbra's humanity... and artistry. Shame on you! I just wish someday she might do one of my songs!

Streisand's work has inspired in so many different aspects of my life. I pray she continue taking risks, and return to the silver screen as actress as well as director.  Thank you Barbra.

this is one of my favorite songs by her and truly my favorite song from Yentl. I'm surprise no one has covered this song. I could see Celine, Whitney (of the 1980s and 1990's of course, not today) really belting this song out. This song requires so muh breath control, tone and power. I just love it!!!

For some reason, this is one of my least favorites from one of my least favorite Streisand films. It just feels like 'filler' from the otherwise brilliant Yentl soundtrack. It's actually rather obnoxious and just loud.

@mikesterSTLMO As they say, to each his own. But, for me this song releases all the tension, the ripping away of the mascarade - no matter what happens - Barbra's voice - the string reprise - all march toward the same end - that stirring finish! This song is the denouement of the plot.

@mikesterSTLMO I agree....as did most critics....it is at this point in the film when it's One-Song-Too-Many. It is surely the weakest of the lot ....and apparently they had another song written in mind for this scene....it is obviously the KEY moment in the film, but they never did get it right. Still, it's a relevant film anyway...
