  • This song was so far ahead of it's time and one of my all time favorite surf guitar songs , it still gives me goosebumps

  • Do you remember hearing that sound coming from the "beach huts" dance and drink gigs above some shops near the Beaches of Sydney and the Gold Coast. Smell the peroxide and coconut oil and the sand covered floors. Take me back there now.......in a xm Falcon 3 speed 170 pursuit ahhhhh.......or hear it on a am radio.....

  • the early 60's look was way better. The beach boys, The Atlantics, they all went to trash in the looks during the late 60's to the present.

  • why has no one made a surfing video to this fantastic sound?????? Every time I heard it on the radio, I just saw the wild sea and surfers. Brings back such memories of such a long time ago. Still gives me shivers and it's not cos I'm old now.

  • puta banda!!!

  • amazing atmosphere. like some kind of storm

  • Good live version 2010 BOMBORA THE SHADOWMEN

  • Still great to appreciate the great sound of a "Strat"

  • this was the first record I ever got as a present ... I was nine...

still love it today a timeless classic

one of if not the best guitar instrumentals ever ever ever!!!

  • Better than ever - should tour regularly for the oldies!

  • Ah man, you have to look up Bangalore SURF to see it

  • Nice, never heard this one. Make sure you check:

    Miserlou and Hava, Dick Dale.

    Pipeline, The Chantays.

Bangalore, The Blazers (recently on Utube).

    Penetration, The Pyramids.

    Bombora, Surfaris.

    Mr. Moto, The Belairs.

    K-39, The Challengers.

    Goofy Foot, The Lively Ones

If you could buy The History Of Surf Music a Rhino Records remaster 1982 only get the first album the 2nd and 3rd sucked.

  • Surf music rules!!!

  • I've often wondered whether this Ozzie surf classic may be subtely influenced by a Greek bazuki playing tradition that might have inflenced the lead guitar riffs? Anyone else think they can hear Jim's 'Greekness' coming out in this ?

  • can some one tell me why this good old Australian band don't do the club sean

  • @xvawz25y who is sean?

  • @Jdizz99 Hi sorry i can no think of what i put on youtube about the Atlantics Greg.

  • @Jdizz99 I was talking about doing the club scene my spelling is a little of but i would love to see them play a good 60,s band Greg.

  • @xvawz25y oh ok yeh i see now!!

  • What a brilliant piece of music !! Is it possible for this music to get even better as the years roll-on - a bit like a vintage wine. The lads may be adding a few grey hairs and wrinkles, but they are still really great musicians. Thanks for posting this masterpiece !!

  • this kind of stuff predates dylan and the beatles....back when life was good

  • old men playing good music what more do we want .

  • @xvawz25y respect for thoes "old men" by not calling them old men.

  • Feels so nice to hear this once again...I've been searching for this for years.. Thanks mandyp27 for posting.

  • Let's go CHoWers!

  • Good to see and hear!!! Great link back to being at MBHS together. Jo (Was Joe Mul)

  • A true Australian classic which will never die. Also which defines the Australian spirit and culture

I vote this song to be the next Australian anthem.

    Long live the Atlantics

  • i agree with you gungahlin

  • Has anyone got tabs for the bass part?? if so please link me.

  • This remains as one of Australia's best ever instrumentals.

A remarkable effort after 45 years.

Jim (Skiathitis) on lead still has it along with Peter Hood on drums, Martin Cilia, guitar and Michael Smith, bass.

The Strat still sounds great and has clearly done some travelling in its' time.

    Thank you mandyp for posting.

  • man such a great band, Martin Cilia rules. and you can tell Michael Smith(bassist) showed up to take care of business...look at that intensity.

  • this is great!

  • guys smiling and jamming, thats what surf music is all about! looks like he still has his original Fender from the 60's...thats awesome, this video gave me chills, thank you I enjoyed this very much...

  • Rocks ! Awesome version. Thanks for putting it online.

  • that is the greatest surf tone

  • Fleas!

  • *intro

  • does anyone no how the guitarist makes that cool scratching sound in the into?

  • Probably has a mess of effect pedals out of frame.

  • The only effect I can hear is bulk reverb like most Surf Instrumentals.

  • Exactly 45 years ago this month BOMBORA was top of the Australian charts. I rated it instrumental of the year, 1963! And that was some doing as The Shadows were at their peak that same year with DANCE ON, FOOT TAPPER, ATLANTIS and SHINDIG. Also throw in the Chantays' PIPELINE and Lonnie Mack's immortal MEMPHIS. The Atlantics were ahead of their time as far as distortion and sound effects go.

  • @appkw The VENTURES still make big money in Japan every year but the

ATLANTICS must not need money no many people now this excellent Group

    they need a good manager.

  • This is fucken tops

  • Very cool!

thanks to bigeeezy for the share!

  • thanks kiss

  • Aussie surf is really up!!!*****

  • Nice stuff!

  • Very nice, 5********

  • Fantastic.

    5/5*****

    Peace~~~Rod

  • Nice share James, Thanks!

  • Excellent. I don't know... those guys sound pretty much like that awesome band from the sixties I mean, The Shadows and they are are great. I think Hank Marvin should be glad if he had the chance to listen to them. Thanks for sharing it my friend.

  • ★★★★★ AWESOME

  • What I just saw was as beautiful as any classic Italian opera......thank you.

  • one of the best surf songs ever, loved it in 63 and still do. thanks for posting!!!

  • Where's Johnny Rebb?

  • Awesome sound and great memories guys!! TYTYThankYou!!

  • It'll be on the charts when Tarrentino discovers it and puts it in a movie. I just got a copy of The Atlantic complete CBS recordings, Vol. one. Great music!

  • There was an American surf rock song also called Bombora by a band who called themselves the Surfaris, though they were not the same Surfaris that did "Wipe Out." I've never heard The Atlantics version unitl now. Very cool. Sounds a lot like The Shadows.

  • Well, these are the blokes who wrote, first performed, and recorded "Bombora" way way back. In July 1963, "Bombora" reached No.5 nationally.

Follow up was "The Crusher" Nov. 1963, Top 20.

  • Awsome!!!!! This will be back in the charts some day in the future....just watch.

  • Muy buena banda de Surf, la neta tienen un chingo de técnica musical.

    LARGA VIDA AL SURF!!!!

  • No WAY, Ron Jeremy looks like a Hedge hog, Hence the name The Hedge Hog. hahah Sounds like one of DR. Evils henchman! The bass player looks more like Wolfman Jack with a hangover. No mean spirit intended, all in humor!

  • very nice.....love the song

  • they still have that classic sound

    love it

  • Great to see these guys still playing strong with still such enthusiasm...The Atlantics are legends and may they live on for ever and a day...thanks guys for making our lives fun back then and now today....Barry Ribbons Sydney

  • hahaha neilcam ;)

    fantastic clip

  • great strat tone

  • I agree ! Its so refreshing to hear this Music, & more so 'cos its Australian.

  • Is this all the original members? great stuff whatever the situation!

  • AWESOME !!!!!!!!! I'm a big Dick Dale fan, and this is right up there.

  • Aside from the bass player bearing a more than passing resemblance to Ron Jeremy, this is great stuff!

    Neil

  • awesome
