Flash Website Guestbook AS3 MySQL Tutorial and Free Editable Source Files

I am having an issue with the guestbook where it only allows me to post ONE comment to my mysql db and it doesn't return the post to be displayed in the guestbook (gbOutput_text). Is the gbOutput_text supposed to be Classic Dynamic or TLF Text? I have it set as Dynamic Text right now and so it will tell me that no data is available if I manually delete the ONE entry from the db. So that much works, its just not allowing more than one entry and its not returning anything. Please Advise!

I' a little confused about the the end section of the tutorial. Can i use another program other than Dreamweaver? I'm designing my website in flash cs4 and intend to publish it through iweb.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, could someone help me please? Idk if it's just me, but when I embeded this guestbook into my website, the Guestbook flashes white, and you can only see the actual guest book for about half a second. I might of done the actionscript wrong, but could someone comment, or message me troubleshooting please? I'll send my actionscript if needed.

I have a question about making this guestbook!

Is it possible to make two flash programs; and no php, apache or mysql???

one would be the guestbook

and the other would be a flash php server that all runs on the website?

for an example would it be possible to make a IO writer and listener in flash that sends data to the guestbook???????

I want to make my guestbook run only from flash AS3 or 4 no other programs!

Ah,

and i found another little tricky syntaxerror in it.

The "userMSG" variable in Flash is different to the "userMsg" variable you type in the php-script, so it want work for me at first startup to send messages to the database.

Solution: rename user.MSG in flash to user.Msg and it will work.

Thanks for the tutorial! Very clear and informative. I just have a question. Will it be a lot more difficult if say I want to make it so that each entry appears on its own "card." They get to choose the out of 5 card designs. What I really want is for when people are viewing the guestbook, they'll click on one of the designs, the card enlarges and spin to the back where the message is written. Is that really difficult to do?

hi Adam - love the vids! I'm recently started using CS5 and for some reason it doesn't like the html property on the text area gbOutput_txt?? also Flash is automatically importing everything and for some reason is ignoring stop(); on the timeline??

I get the following error from the Adam Guestbook, and don't have a solution:

@karenwood89 Heeyy, I had the same problem. You must check the mysql_query in the php file. Make sure everything is spelled correctly. My problem was that I spelled questbook with a q instead of guestbook with a g :P
