You need to change your name. Yeah, I know yours has two n's and the funny one has three but you need to not make the mistake of being compared, that won't help. I know it's your first time, good for you. Keep going at it. Engage your audience more, be more natural and don't look like you're acting out script.
Thanks very much I appreciate the constructive criticism. And I have recently Changed my name to Jake "Johnsen" so there will be no more mistakes. Just need to get more videos and stuff up. Thanks for the comment
you have incorrectly speleed "his" name. The comic you are referring too has two n's in the middle of his name. So my name is "Johansen" his is "Johannsen"
Maybe you should use your middle name or something so as not to confuse people - if I was named Michael Jackson I think I'd go by Mike, for example. In your case you're pulling in traffic intended for a brilliant comedian (you know who I'm talking about, I think).
well If I start getting past amateur status into professional, I might change to a stage name of some sort, but right now I'm not too worried about it since me and the other Jake acutally have two different spellings of our names. "Jake Johansen" is mine "Jake Johannsen" is his, so I'm not feeling too bad about that.
Sorry, but this is not Jake Johansen, the comic that's been around for years. I think this guy should change his name. I mean, he's lame and people might not go see the real one because they thought this was him.
I second that motion. If that really is your name, then what you're doing is not ethical, and if it's just your stage name, then it's intellectually dishonest.
I think the trick is to casually get them laughing first with a "cute joke" which is just something you have a chuckle over with a sales person then move onto the big stuff. Just treat it like a real conversation w/ someone you just met.People want to know a person before they laugh with them. I'm not an expert ,but i do enjoy quite a bit of comedy so i hope this helps you.
honestly, a little painful to watch.Only because I could see you were trying hard so it sounds forced ,like you are trying to convince people its funny. Maybe you just need to find your own unique style.i like the more relaxed comedians that talk about their fams or experiences they've had.
Your content is good, but the delivery is forced, possibly not genuine. Unless you perfect this to the point that it appears natural, I think you're probably funnier offstage, when you aren't acting.
My advice: keep the material, and either take acting classes or change your schtick, as you can't grab everyone if half the audience doesn't buy it.
Well thank you very much and I plan on keeping it up. Your comments good and bad are all appreciated. Preferably constructive when it comes to the bad but ya know :-P
I'll take that as some what of a compliment because he is my favorite comic and I am working on my material. This is my first time on stage so I am still working at it but thanks for the comment :-D
I will try to be constructive. It was obvious to me that Carlin is your favorite comedian. In fact, it seemed that you weren't being yourself but trying to impersonate Carlin. I'll bet when you make people laugh off stage (and I'm certain you do), you don't affect a Carlinesque demeanor. You're probably just yourself. And, you know what? If it works off stage, it'll work on stage.
Honestly, I'm impressed that this is your first time on stage. You seemed poised, relaxed, and confident. And, while your material is a little rough around the edges, there's funny in there. Kudos. Good luck.
Well... Of course It's not Jake "Johannsen" because it's Jake "Johansen" only one N in the middle but thanks for noticing and did you at least laugh a little bit?
Wow isn't this comedian Great. Gosh people should like email him and say how they want to see more videos of him. Maybe a little Video Rating of the higher sort :-P. But who am I to say. Watch, enjoy. Hopefully you think it is rather entertaining.

a few new unspoken rules to society....
1. never pay attention to this guy while he is on stage, because you cant get your time back ever.
2. if you see this man in the rest room, urinate on him.

Quit hamming it up so much. You are clearly trying to impersonate Carlin and it is what appears to be turning the audience off.
On the positive side is that you appear quite comfortable onstage and I am willing to bet that you'd be a riot to hang with.
Good luck. I think you may have a future in standup comedy.
