@csutton5 can't find anyone else with good tone? don't get me wrong, KU is my favourite musician but John Mayer's tone is matchless. I do enjoy KU's melodic solos, in fact Mayer said that he would steal that idea. When Keith does melodic solos (ex- Stupid Boy, Til Summer) it really feels like he's singing through his guitar.

I started playing guitar because of Keith. as a John Mayer fan you should know that he has a heavy Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan influence (which is very different from Keith's main influence, Mark Knofler. and I don't know what wikipedia has to do with anything... thanks for enjoying my video.

I mean to say that I had no idea he actually played guitar. I'm just getting into country music and I figured he was just one of these types that sings but doesn't actually play the guitar parts and solos in his songs. Like Kenny Chesney or something. Boy was I wrong, he's great. A real musician.

his new rig sounds awesome... vintage Hiwatt into a Wem cab! He's bought the same rig David Gilmour uses since just about the time he joined Pink Floyd to today. From these AOL sessions, I like the strat better than this one too.

Yep, well pretty much hes had the Hiwatts for a while... mabie 2 years. He is just on the search for that perfect tone.. My guess is if he is going to switch amps, next it will be an Orange. Atleast thats what he told me.. But all in all there still the same type of amps, vox, and 65 amps and hiwatts, even orange you get the same tones.

Yeah, he used to use Matchless and Bad Cat, which are pretty much Matchless clones... Your Soldanos and Hiwatts are similar I've heard, and your Vox, Orange, etc are class A style amps. Vox are sweet, but the top boost always gets wierd to me. i've never liked the blended clean/distortion thing...

wrong, his last single "Sweet Thing" went #1 on the US and Canadian charts... and this song is at #3 and is dropping airplay so it will not reach any further.

That's not a traditional banjo, it's a 6 string banjo that frets and plays just like a guitar, hence the nickname "ganjo". A real banjo has 5 strings and is played by strictly fingerpicking and "rolling" with the fingers.  Totally different instruments.
