it is a self tracking system that needs no outer flanges on the pulley to keep it from flinging off or tracking correctly, also the engagement and disengagement of the teeth are alot smoother creating much less rolling resistance hence more usable power @ a quicker rate also it can take 30% more torque than your standard straight tooth design
