i've only flown 2 hours so far, and when you see it from the cabin the ground looks to be coming at me a whole lot faster than what it looks like on video
Nice landing! I enjoy the C172 but still as a low hour student (28 hours) I still get nervous as the ground rush starts as you cross the threshold. Maybe that comes from looking too much at the numbers instead of the end of the runway. Felt the same during my first solo.
It looks like you were like I was, in that it took me a while before I realized I could move the plane around with rudders and not just the ailerons. It makes the landings look a lot prettier if nothing else. lol. You may have had a cross wind though.
Wow... that's why many people in Switzerland (my country) and Europe in general go to USA to comlpete the PPL licence: My lessons are 400 CHF per hour, which is nearly 380$
thats a rip off. it cost $100 per hour for cessna including fuel then $30-40 for instructor. these prices are at southbay aviation at torrance airport zamparini feild in california.
No, not where i live, see we have a flight club, so i can fly a plane that's usually 178 per hour, and flight club it's 100 an hour, with very cheep everything else.
@kso747 on average it cost a person $6300 to complete the program. That's about $105/hr, assuming the average person takes 60 hours to complete it, everything. This is in Goshen, IN
i want to get a ppl to fly cessna's at weekends for hobbies but it is too expensive. i've called the flight school they said ppl costs 16000$ and when you get the license you can rent cessna's for 350$ per hour.
i think i am living in an avition expensive(!) country. if i don't hit the jackpot i won't be flying. i am reaallly sad:(
it is like that because of fuel taxes i think. and maybe because it is a crowded city of 15 million people living. air traffic for ltba is huge, maybe it is that or maybe the taxes. i dont know.
That sounds WAY too high for a Cessna unless maybe it has a Garmin 1000 nav system in it or something.
I recommend taking ground school at a 2-year college in your area if they have it. In California, it is $26 dollars a unit for three units; much cheaper than a regular flight school.
DUDE! nice landing. I'm going to fly tomorrow and will do Take offs and landings (TOALS) for the fourth session and my instructor will instruct me to do Go Around if doesnt like my approach. I hope I could nail all my landings tomorrow. Can't wait. Nice job again. More power. Happy Landings.
its not as long as you have done the theory and researched all the approach procedures, also when your up there remember to only lightly adjust and don't descend at a rate of more than 700Ft/min and 100Ft/min on touchdown
i missed the video making too. my trainer sad stop the plane on the runway after the school curse, and turn it to the other angle. when it was done he jumped out the cockpit, closed his door and sad: now, this will be your first solo, have a good flight :) this was one of the greatest things i've ever felt
Makes me wish I had taped my own. I'll never forget the feeling of starting to taxi without my instructor thinking, "what the hell do you think you're doing?"
I then remember singing to myself all the way (Green Day!) to keep myself from thinking too much about what I was doing. All told, it was a great day, as I'm sure first solo is for all pilots.
we are all nervous with are first solo...after you get out of the plane you walk with a little pep in your step though..just stay cool and remember your training youll be ok
really good landing, you it is not easy task to be in the plane alone for the first time but we all eventually came out with success. You know I soloed today 05-17-09 and I felt a little bit nervous but with great pride of what I was doing.
I have a question for you. Were you nervous on your solo? I am really comfortable landing with an instructor in the plane and he is pushing me to get my medical after only 7hrs so I can solo. Honestly, I am kinda scared. I guess when the time comes, I'll be ready.
I just thought it was a little wierd to be in there alone on my first solo... didnt bother me though i did 2 touch 'n gos and a full stop.... Class D KTRI in a C-172.
At my solo, the circuit was at 700 Ft AMSL but in my euforia I climbed right trough that, because of the much lower weight of the 152 without instructor I didn't expect to reach that altitude so fast...couldn't stop looking to the right to make me realize I was really alone in that plane.
Only flown for 2 hours and you are on your 2nd solo trip?
I think that is a mis statement
