Totally awesome is QUEEN. Even from back in the late 60s when they were college buds playing original rock music at frat parties, local pubs & whatnot...in fact, QUEEN is the ONLY rock band that can boast that ALL 4 members are actual college graduates, majoring in music which, explains THE GREATEST ROCK BAND OF ALL TIME. Love all of Deaky's songs - even the ones that were not huge hits (like Misfire). "You're My Best Friend" still gets terrific radio play in the United States - I just heard it yesterday as I was eating lunch at a restaurant in downtown Boston. On another note, I think Deaky loved and depended on Freddie like a big brother. I don't think he ever got over Freddie's death.

The reason he is never voted top in 'Greatest Bassist' polls, is simply because he wasn't seen or heard much on stage or in interviews. He did compose some fantastic masterpieces, and should be more credited than he is in my opinion.

..But since people did not see much of him, he won't be voted high by many people.

A lot of artists today are average but they are so overexposed that people really start to believe that they are musical geniuses. But the true genius' are people like Deacon. They know they have talent but prefer to deal with it under their own terms, otherwise the quality of the finished product isn't as good as it should be.

John's the reason I started playing bass and have been in playing bands for over 20 years. when he didn't rejoin the band after Freddy died I had more respect for him then ever. Without the original singer in any band it's not the same band. Paul was amazing in the band, probably the only one who could pull it off, but it's just not Queen without all of them.
