That whole game was so fucked up. I can understand the Islanders being pissed, but their reaction was completely over the top. It was a completely fair fight -- Johnson challenged DiPietro, who accepted. Hell, DiPietro had a huge smile going into it! It wasn't Johnny's fault the guy had a glass jaw.

It's not like this was late in the season where each team knew what positions they were in. Also, why would you WANT to injure a playing long-term? That's completely disrespectful to the game. This is not a team full of Sean Avery's. The islanders proved that they're not pushovers. They rocked the Penguins in the fights and on the scoreboard.

@shanis81 Not like the cheap shot from a number of Islanders that night, eh? It was quite hilarious that the game before DiPietro pulled a Hasek which brought on the 1 hit KO due to his glass jaw. Then Garth Snow had to call up all these goons just to retaliate against the entire team (and a player that wasn't even on the ice at all during that last game). How professional of that oh so stellar former Goaltender.
