  • Favorited and bookmarked! I'm hopefully going to be getting one of these whistles soon. Where might I be abell (get it?) to find the music for this? I have looked and I'm having some trouble.

  • @FluteMark How long have you been playing?

  • My old account messed up and I had this as a favorite. When I got my new account, as soon as I remembered this video existed I made sure to look it up and bookmark it again. Thanks for a beautiful rendition.

  • i thought it was actually Lamb Of God, the metal band lol

  • As you said, a beautiful arrangement...and I really like how did you play it. Do you know who wrote this song? I´m from Argentina, regards!

  • @joeldfs Oh, I found it!! ...It´s a Twila Paris song from 1985. I thought that it was an ancient hymn, but is a "CCM" song (hehe). Regards!

  • Please make more videos with praise songs and this whistle...Thank you

  • this is nothing on rebecca black.

  • Brilliant; wonderfully brilliant!

  • I just love the Irish flute and especially this song. I love the Irish. I got up today with this song on my mind. Love the flute.

  • God has blessed you with an amazing talent! Keep up the good work! :)

  • damn i thought it was Lamb of God metal on tin whistle ahaha that would have been wierd...nice music though i'm glad i clicked (Y)

  • Great job, thank you very much. Great tone and that last lower note was cool!

  • Wow, i had no idea a penny whistle could sound that good? Is the sound amplified or electronically altered in any way?

  • fake

  • This guy might look like a dufas but WOW he's good!!!! freaking beautiful!

  • Beautiful, just beautiful!

  • You inspire me. Thank you for this.

  • cus your are so good :)

  • i get the chilling feeling over and over

  • Though I do not profess the Christian faith I appreciate the beauty of this tune, and the sentiment of its lyrics. Thanks for the music!

  • Which book, please?

  • Is this your own arrangement? I would love a copy or knowledge of where to find one. Please let me know. Thanks!

  • So inspiring! Thank-you. I am thinking of buying an Abell whistle. Do you or anyone, know how it compares to a Fred Rose whistle?

  • I would like to thank you tremendously for posting this, I enjoy listening to it over and over.

  • Superb!

  • I am sad because I just found out the this music book is no longer in print. You play wonderfully. I am 57 and learning to play the flute . You are an inspiration.

  • absolutely breathtaking and uplifting!

  • Nice. Do you have the blackwood or the delrin whistle?

  • Beautiful! I love this song and this is an excellent arrangement. I'm also a flute/whistle player and help (vocally/keyboard) lead worship at our house of prayer. Thank you for sharing this for the glory of God! :)

  • Wow!!!

  • Hahaha, for a second I thought you were going to bust out Laid to Rest on your whistle.

  • It's so beautiful! Your sound is lovely!

  • did you use reverb or do Abell whistles naturally sound this beautiful?

  • Brilliant tone with one of my favorite melodies! I love it!

  • @kallisilat - Two things - find a recording of this song with Irish Whistle - I am the ONLY one who has done that, no other exists. Secondly, check out my channel where I have videos of me playing this whistle by itself and with our church orchestra - you'll see and hear that you are entirely wrong. Anger? No, refuting your accusation of falsehood. Christians take a stand for truth, in case you didn't know.

  • Awesome! Praise the Lord God almighty!

  • amazing, and i mean it... wow

  • Beautiful ! Praise the Lord!

  • The Lord hath given and hath taken away; blessed be the name of the lord.

  • Can someone please tell me where to get the sheet music for this song? I LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @IrishWhistler2

I suggest you go to a church near by and find it in the hymnal in the seat there. Take a blank sheet and a pencil w/ you. If you go on Sunday, you may hear a good sermon too! All the best to you.

  • @deezynar are you by chance LDS?

  • @IrishWhistler2

Nah, I'm a fundy. Sorry, if I offended. BTW, I bought 2 hymnals, they're not expensive for what you get. Here's just a few: "Be Thou My Vision"; "What Wondrous Love Is This"; "Eternal Father, Strong To Save"; "Amazing Grace"; "Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah"; "O The Deep Deep Love Of Jesus"; "Come Thou Fount Of Every Blessing", "& many more", as they say in the TV commercials! : } Take care.

  • One of the best perfomances on YouTube. Fine, fine job. I have an Abell whistle myself and this fellow can play. Again, great work!

  • One of the best performances on Y

  • Well done, thanks

  • I LOVE this song so much you great playing it FluteMark, but i was wondering where i can get a high D Abell whistle, if anyone knows please tell:)

  • i love this song so much! i actually have the great privilege of singing it at church this weekend. i'm really excited! it's so beautiful, the simple melody, but so moving,

  • Hey! I am recently getting into Whistles. I have been doing lots of research and I think this D Abell is my favorite so far. What is the easiest way to get ahold of one? Does It have a C hole on the back? How do I find one with a C hole if so? Also what is the best way to get practice? Lessons? Books? Any tips? Sorry for all the questions :D

  • well theres no C hole on mine but im not exactely sure if you can get one with a C hole or not

the way im learning is experimenting and watching videos of other whistlers play

im not a fan of sheet music

but I really like to improvise but yeah check out sheet music see what you think and everyone learns differently so

try everything untill you find a way that you like

  • it sounds like you are playing three octives, how? best whistle ive heard

  • Beautiful....Thanks for sharing.

  • Dang how much does that irish whistle cost?

  • that song blows me off my feet.

  • Yes, Mark. Where can I, also, get hold of this arrangement?

  • wonderful :')

  • Mark - can you give me the name of this arrangement? I play what I thought was Twila Paris' s original but yours is different. Very nice indeed. I love the Abell too. K.

  • That is beautiful. I found this as an investigation into which whistle I could progress up to. Much like the Oz whistle. Anyway. Lovely. I will endevour to learn this if I ever find the score for it.

    Once again. Beautifully played.

  • This is one of my favourite songs and Mark you play so beautifully with such passion! Keep up the work, God has surely blessed you with a great talent!

  • LOG - Lamb of God

  • we sing this song at my school well my ex school now its a priviet school

  • Beautiful...a taste of heaven

  • This was so lovely to listen to. You are such a talented person and play with such passion and feeling.

    floordalee

  • Irish TASTE...

  • I've been playing whistle for many years and have some fine whistles but never had the pleasure of playing an Abell. I'd often considered it, but this video inspired me to take the $ plunge and I'm certainly glad I did. This is the finest high D whistle I've played, and truly a work of art... a gorgeous whistle in all respects. Mine is Madagascar Rosewood which is very dark, similar to Blackwood but with some underlying burgundy figuring. Beautiful full, clear tone like Mark's.

  • Did you get the same one as Mike's? How much did it cost? I want to buy a same one and learn it.Thanks.

  • Ill admit, beautifully done. Unfortunately it's just not my kind of Lamb of God. I'm not going to trash it, because I have no reason to. I will however post my opinion, in saying Lamb of God - Vigil(Killadelphia) is an awesome song. For those of you willing to give it a shot just search it up. Again, amazing job. \m/

  • Yes i know, double post. Just an FYI, you may have to listen hard to understand them.

  • lol. i tought it was LOG too

  • so did i. i was searchin flux by LOG and it said flute. i was like wtf so i just came to it.

  • record more!

    IT'S AMAZING!

  • i like it man

  • thanks for play, record and post!!

    your sound is adsolutely beaufiful!!!

  • Wow. That is such a beautiful sound! I need to get me an Irish whistle/pennywhistle.

Great job - I love this song.

  • how much does an Irish whistle cost?

    this is beautiful!

    record more!

  • I got my first one for 3 bucks and it's the best one I have. Sweetone is the brand. But Clarke's is really good too. Almost all of them are inexpensive for an instrument :)

  • I wish the backing tracks my family have sound as beautiful as that. that was absolutely lovely. Brought me to tears.

  • wow--I am wondering how hard that is to play?

  • easy to play, but incredibly hard to master. It could take 10-years, a lifetime or never.

  • wow, that long to master.....Well it surely is a beautiful instrument!! THANKS.

  • very very very beautiful voice

  • i wish i could that... beautiful...

    ab-so-lute-ly beautiful

  • This is so beautiful! Please do more videos of you playing the irish whistle!

  • Wow.. that was absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!

  • i may not be Christian but i love this song!

    =]

    very beautiful dear sir Mark!

  • just asking but if ur not christain, wut u believe in, judaism?

  • What is it you are playing [what instrument?] i would like to learn to play that. Is it the same as Irish tim whistle? jp

  • yes it is the irish flute and tin whistle are the same thing. i heard its pretty easy to play. well it would be for me i play piccollo in the marching band.

  • It is pretty easy. I picked one up and could play it pretty quickly, easier than the piccolo. The notes are all in the key of G. However, to sound like that, probably takes a while.

Btw, sounds so pretty. Does your house echo or something? It sounds like a recording.

  • toll! Danke!

  • I sing masses and was actually trying to learn another version of lamb of god before the weekend service. I just wanted to let you know that your playing is beautiful! What a great recording :) Thanks for sharing

  • You're incredible ! Your sound is just ... wonderful ! Every time I listen to this I'm just blowed up !

    Thanks for posting !

  • i totally clicked it cause i was thinking Metal on the Tinwhistle (as in the metal band Lamb of God).... but this is pretty awesome too... really pretty

  • lol me too xD

  • Have you ever been to a Boxwood Festival? I haven't but I was able to play in a flute ensemble with Chris Norman and his guitarist and bassist. I'm guessing you have been. But if you haven't, I bet you'd love it.

  • The most beautiful music I've heard yet.

  • awesome !!

It is Easter Sunday today and lovely to hear this.

Thanks a bunch and God Bless! Barb

  • I have an Irish Whistle and I just found it after a few years. I am currently teaching myself by ear,, but I need some good starter books with good Irish tunes in them. Anyone know where they sell in Arizona????

  • Anyone know where I can get this sheet music for this?

  • Hi,

The book and accompaniment CD are: "Contemporary Praise" Instrumental Solos for the Church Musician. Arranged for Solo Instrument by Joey Culpepper by Word Music with accompaniment CD Tracks Included. Copyright 1998.

    Mark

  • Music O music most high touch my soul. O tender and sweet sounds lift me high. Fly on angels wings to the heavens. Melodies cleanse my soul. Music most high cary me to my God. O holy notes rise as a holy offering. O my soul rest on melodious notes. Wash my spirit o music of God. Show tis grace that notes shall sing. Tis grace touch my soul. O music play on and lift as a holy offering. O music touch my soul and cary my heart to God. O holt notes rise and bless my soul.
  • I taught myself how to play the Irish Whistle and Flute. I will never be this good. I am a frustrated musician because I am trapped. I would have been Sooooooooooooooooo good if I had lessons. I suck because I am my only teacher. How I wish I had a teacher. People tell me I am amazing. I tend not to believe them. I am my own teacher and that is nit good enough. With my own teachings I hope to become half as good as this man......but I doubt it.

  • Haunting. You're truly a brilliant, inspiring musician. I can't wait till you release an album (:

  • *tear* beautiful, i am learning to play the D but for some reason my whistle sounds nothing like that...insprireing truly inspiring

  • Exellente!

  • Hauntingly beautiful. Please post more pennywhistle videos. Oh, and while your at it, when are you coming out with a CD of your music? I will be first in line to buy it.

  • Brilliant!! I'm learning to play and I hope to be at least half of what you are. You are an inspiration.

  • Do you want to sell your abell high D?

  • This song has to be one of my favorites and to hear it played on a tin whistle makes it even more powerful.

  • Superb!

I would say I have something to learn .o)

  • Oh my god. I don't lie when I say that I've cried!

  • wow. truly amazing.

  • wow that was amazing!! what book did you get the song from? there are soo many and I really liked your version with the background (it was really 'thick' and flowing)

  • Hello. I also play an Irish whistle, But I need to move on to a better one. where and what kind of whistle should I buy?

    your amazing Mark

  • the tone of your whistle is excellent - what kind is it?

  • Hi, It is an Abell whistle in D. Thanks! Mark

  • Well.. you're not really playing...

  • why do you say that? I assure you that is me and that I play every note. the accompaniment cd is for any C instrument and is available if you google for it. i played it live in church that following sunday before about 4,000 witnesses.

  • just take that as a complement. do you have a video with that live performance? i'd love to see it.

  • Wonderful! In your description you write:

"Accompaniment CD is from a book available online." What is the name of the book and who publishes it? Where can I get it?

  • "Contemporary Praise" Instrumental Solos for the Church Musician. Arranged for Solo Instrument by Joey Culpepper by Word Music with accompaniment CD Tracks Included. Copyright 1998.

  • Thanks!

  • Q: Mark, your Abell is a C? Do you know, is that the same key Sir James played in LOTR? --I had assumed that LOTR was in D.

  • Hi, It is a D whistle with one added hole for the left thumb so that if you cover L1 and vent the left thumb you get the C natural without having to use the L2/R123 fingering for that note. It is the same make/model that Sir James uses in LOTR. He is very virtuosic on his Abell whistle.

  • Hi Flutemark, Thanks for the answer! --And I'm assuming the extra hole gives you an F natural too?

  • Hi, It only allows for the C natural. The F natural is a xxx xvo fingering, where the v is a half-covered hole.

  • Simply Beautiful!!! Are the fingerings the same as on the flute?!?!

  • simply amazing but not to be rude it seems fake lol but what a sound

  • where does the hall of the whistle come from??

  • What a beautiful sound!!!!

  • very beautiful, really. i've got no words to describe it.. but go on with making music! i wanna hear more

  • omg amazing...

i wanna play this with my church orchestra (me being the whistle player of course :D)

  • oh wow this is beautiful. the whistle sounds AMAZING!

  • really beautiful n amazing.........

  • It's wonderful !!!

  • Very nice. I will be going to visit Chris Abell at the end of this month to pick up my Abell Whistle. It's always nice to hear the potential of what I purchased.

  • Very, very beautiful. I added it to my favorites list. It would be cool if you posted a version without so much reverb. The natural version would be even more beautiful.

  • I think you kinda look like Ben from Lost, lol.

Excellent playing however. You do us Irish proud! :D

  • yo, what kind of whistle is that...I was tube'ing through to check out some whistles before I buy one, and thats the one I want. If I can play something that well, I'll be ready to die and go to heaven.
