The eighties were fucking awful. Thank god I dont have to listen to shit like this anymore and at the same time being told that it was good by all my dickhead mates at school.
@hairyhole123 it is live as on this version when he goes into the chorus for the first time, he sings looking out for SWEET Linda, whereas on the studio recorded version it doesn't.
@hairyhole123 - You are clueless pal, he is VERY OBVIOUSLY singing live, the wording, phrasing and timing are ALL different from the recorded version, why on earth would you say that?
Very rare to hear a live performance on TOTP in the 80s. Sounds even better than on record! Only other acts I remember doing it live are Whitney Houston and Eurythmics....
I saw hue and cry at the symphony hall in b'ham in 1991 - they were amazing - at the time i was so into stone roses, house of love and all that stuff and hue and cry were the complete antithesis but so refreshing, i love the soul sound.
so who did play Linda then? What is she doing now - i really hope she is happy - seems so sad and confused in the video. Might make a good tv play as video looks like just the start of an intriguing story -anybody written one?
Hey everyone this is a great song & the woman who played Linda for this pop video played Danny Baldwin's ex wife in Corrie, check for yourself all you good people.
This reminds me of a girl I went to school with called Linda. We both fancied the same boy but he never liked either of us...he dated one of the 'popular' girls I cant remember her name now....I always liked "spent 35 pound on one pack of ciggies"!!!
Pat and Greg Kane still perform and their audience still love this song. There is a much slower (and sadder) version on their album 'Bitter Suite'. I hate to admit that my 'Linda' introduced me to the adult world when I was a nervous teenager and I still think of her fondly. I'm not looking for her now though!

Ever since the TOTP made miming a no no, it was easier to see who the real talent was, these guys were great.

Reminds me of a girl I fancied at school called Linda Beech. It was unrequited love. Infatuated at the time but that's schoolboys for you.
