this is actually quite an awesome riff, the song is class, hell even the album is ok (definately they're worst by a country mile) but i cannot abide by the sound of the drums...i mean, what the fuck is he hitting? Stainless steel dustbins and kiddies lunchboxes? fair enough, it's "his own style" but, what was wrong with the other albums where the drums sounded fucking outstanding, funnily enough, that was "his own style" too...

i have got to say, that i love all metallica albums, i cant figure a favourite, st anger is my least favourite however, this is mostly based on the fact that in the album lars turns his snare drum off the ENTIRE album, but i really have no problem with the songs, however despite that i still think that it would be my least favourite album because i find the songs on the other albums just better, however i would like to express that I AM NOT SAYING THEY ARE TERRIBLE.

Honestly St. Anger fit the metal scene in the early 2000's. A lot of big metal bands were dropping their tunings and not focusing on guitar solos. (Korn, SoaD, early Slipknot, Disturbed, Deftones, among others.) This fits the time in which it was recorded in, and is honestly pretty good

This is a clip from the DVD that came as a bonus when St. Anger was first released.  It's a shame the album itself reflects none of the heaviness featured on the rehearsal footage, because St. Anger was potentially their best work. Instead the album is more reviled than revered as a direct result of how weak it sounded.
