As somebody who's been riding this line since 1997 I can say I liked it better before the paralleling bike trail (looked more like a real RR), despite being an avid biker!! But too bad we can't saw down the switchbacks at switch #9 and head for Mt. Savage or Borden Yard! Got some video from 1997 when they still ran the B&O Alco FSE-1 (now in the B&O Museum). But, that bike trail-I like it & hate it!
the WMSR is an excursion line....... and regardless of whether the WM had GP30's or not, the WMSR has a GP30, and that's what they use. If you want to buy them a type of locomotive that the WM had, then I suggest you raise the money to do so. I'd gladly take the GP30 at Jackson Street and paint it into GN colors.
@meccaturbo Alright. Good enough. But the fact that the WMSR has a GP30 as opposed to some model of locomotive that WM had doesn't make the video fake, GP30's are solid machines, and who knows. Maybe someday the WMSR will be able to run more locomotives that the WM would have run in real life. But for now, the GP30 pulls trains just fine, and the WM paint looks pretty good on it.
@bertxblitzkrieg GP30's were great....I grew up watching C&O, B&O, N&W, and Southern GP30's in my area. I never said the video was fake, I mean that it adds a fakeness to the WMSR that they don't have a real WM locomotive. Contrast this with the Durbin & Greenbrier Valley RR in WV, which has several genuine ex WM locos.
@meccaturbo I get what you mean, I was disappointed when I found out that the SOO 559 I take care of at Jackson Street was born a Rock Island locomotive. But for a small organization such as a scenic railroad or the like, it's quite something to be thankful for to even have enough revenue to own and maintain old locomotives.
@bertxblitzkrieg I agree with you about that, very true. For me, I love the WM so I guess I am just kind of particular when I see a locomotive painted WM.
@bertxblitzkrieg And, retard, it goes without saying that I know a lot more about the WM than you ever have - or ever will. Your only train experience is playing with your toys in your mommy's basement. You're an idiot - but then again, we've already established just what a stupid fool you really are.
@meccaturbo Actually.. I am a conductor on the O&SCV Ry. during operating season and I repair the diesels at JSRH over the winter ... I have no basement, my mom died four years ago, and I do love model trains, I model the Wisconsin Central. I don't think "we" have established anything. All "we" have established is that you are a sore loser when a mistake you made is pointed out. So sore that you have to resort to bad language. Makes you look cool, tough guy.

@meccaturbo Then spend your own money and buy WMSR a GP35. WM had a handful of them. If you wouldn't do that, then I'd quit complaining.

@bertxblitzkrieg I couldn't give a rat's ass what you would do. Now back to mommy's basement and play with your train videos, you moronic retard.

@meccaturbo If my mom was alive, I could do that.
If you don't love a GP30 ... then go away from anything rail related..

@bertxblitzkrieg I like GP30's, just not WM ones since there was no such thing.

WM paint still looks fake on it, regardless.

This is wonderful! That GP30 sounds great, and that route is beautiful. What type of horn is on the 501? Sounds like a K5LA?
