My 6MT '02 Maxima would have raped my 4AT '02 Maxima. Really obvious difference first time I drove the 6 speed Maxima.

automatic transmissions generally have a torque converter. Double clutch systems like new VW Jetta TDi's and 2.0 T's are classified as automatic but really theyre manual transmissions with a computer doing the clutch work for you.

And from the comments below dont tell me auto is faster than manual for the Maxima just because "the car knows when to shift". the 6 speed totally annihilates the autos

@occckid123 dude i raced an 06 6speed maxima with my 05 auto.....i lost badly bro. unless the auto has a twin clutch, its not gonna be quicker as long as the driver knows how to drive.

@KillerZero259 dude i just said those 5spd autos arent that great plus in that video he had wayy 2 much wheelspin anyway. the 370z automatic with tthe 7spd has a better time than the 6spd manual and the g37 sedan posted the quickest time with the autimatic 7spd. im sayin a modern 6-7-8- spd is just as fast if not faster than manual..

@occckid123 how do you know the 370z auto is quicker than the manual? if anything, i recall seeing a video where the manual puts down more horses to the wheel than the auto. the video was posted on youtube somewhere.

oh, the DCT is a twin clutch btw......much "better" than those in the G37/370z autos. please, go on and read it. they compare it on the second page of the article.

i guess i was just one of the lucky ones...my 02 6speed burned 2+ quarts every 3000 miles...had no choice but to sell it cause that was so annoying...still missing that car though..nothing beats the 6speed...definetely a sleeper
