@thedonoftrek Actually, Ebay is your best bet. Know that there are other variations of the Sound Canvas line. The cheapest one, the SC-55 will very properly render the game midi files (though it won't sound 100% like the CD Soundtrack). For information on how it does WarCraft 2 - look it up on Youtube - there should be some examples.
The SC-88pro is a much more advanced version of the SC-88 - with tons of other Japanese game MIDIs that take advantage of it. I personally have....
I feel that Blizzard made a bi mistake by passing up this time period for the setting of their MMO. This is the time where the Alliance and Horde were at their prime and no place was safe for either side. While Post Frozen Throne was still good, I think considerable effort should be given into making a Pre-WC3 MMO on their part...or atleast allowing someone to. The story here is just too epic to let fade away.

Lol, don't argue which game is better. Diablo I & II are awesome, Sc & Bw are awesome, Warcraft I & II are awesome. Warcraft III is ok at best but everything past WoW is a huge meh.
At least blizzard sticks to their own products compared to EA Games. Even if they're "ruining their lore," least it's not other peoples hard work. ex.(EA practically destroyed everything Westwood Studios stood for)
Problem with Blizzard is they can't make a decent story at all. WC3 was their best on-going story, but SC2 is in line to be considered one of the worst game stories ever told. The gameplay is fun, SC2s multi-player is epic, but the single-players story was just garbage.
@Bookster343 SC2s story failed as it did because Blizzard tried to incorporate 5 separate mini-plots into a single-player that was only about 27ish missions. The plots just didn't last long enough to acually go anywhere interesting.
Take Tosh's missions for example, first two missions your just collecting items which will make his spectres but then it starts to pick up at the Breakout mission. Then it just...ends afterwards, right as the plot was finally getting interesting.
@Bookster343 I mean, here ya are. You breakout all these people that stood up against the Dominion, you enter this epic cutscene between Tosh, Matt and Raynor about what theyre gunna do now and it just feels like its going somewhere epic.
Nope...Tosh's story gets cut off right there. Right when your FINALLY interested.

uhh, i do believe that... i saw HuskyStarcraft doing this in one of his videos a few days ago. is there some cool way to be able to listen to the WC2 soundtrack in SC2 (like some secret ingame option or something)? or do you just have to put the music on in the background?
@Caminacels Actually, since I do make maps on SC2, and I love Husky Starcraft, you can actually alter a map to play a specific soundtrack, I tested it out, I downloaded the song like this one and imported it into the map and had this music playing on a loop while I made a melee map, was totally fun, but other then that, I can't think of a way to add it into SC2 itself

My reason for disliking WoW is related to the way that it messed with the continuity of the series. And the story also did a lot of other things I didn't like. I wouldn't mind it if it weren't for that, but then again, Blizzard is apparently fond of retcons, so I shouldn't say I'm surprised... XD

@tropix93 it is about the continuity of the game... The RTS warcraft was a success, because RTS players made it, and now they've gone and changed it into an MMO. That is what sucks about WoW.
Yes, that is true that it is quite a turn from the other games. It's true that that pissed off a lot of the traditional RTS players. But that is not reason to discredit the game as an MMO. Because it's a great game as an MMO, just like the first three were great games as RTS games. While it's a major twist in the style of the games, it's still awesome for it's type.
Absolutely brilliant song from an incredible soundtrack, videogame songs were so much more distinctive and unique back then, I severed my ties with Watcraft after 2 but I'm going to give 3 another shot shortly.
stick with the classics, trust me... the newer games seem fun for a while... and this may just be me... but when i went back to the classics, being reminded of some of them after quite long i found them lacking... somehow losing the magic they had 15 years ago...

SC-55 are $100-$150 (these are the General MIDI game standard from back in the day).
SC-88 are $200-$250 (I'd recommend this model the most for games and MIDI listening)
SC-88pro is $300-$350 (this is the top of the line I'd recommend for casual use)
SC-8850 and SC-8820 are $500 and around $400 respectively. The 8850 is a monster and you'll likely never need its advanced features. Hope this helps!

all that WoW hating here is just stupid... i get it, people need to show how oldschool they are, no problem.
personally, i prefer enjoying the great memories this wc2 music brings me AND the awesome new blizzard games at the same time. definitely more fun than living in the past while hating the present.

uhh, i do believe that... i saw HuskyStarcraft doing this in one of his videos a few days ago. is there some cool way to be able to listen to the WC2 soundtrack in SC2 (like some secret ingame option or something)? or do you just have to put the music on in the background?

@Caminacels Actually, since I do make maps on SC2, and I love Husky Starcraft, you can actually alter a map to play a specific soundtrack, I tested it out, I downloaded the song like this one and imported it into the map and had this music playing on a loop while I made a melee map, was totally fun, but other then that, I can't think of a way to add it into SC2 itself

My reason for disliking WoW is related to the way that it messed with the continuity of the series. And the story also did a lot of other things I didn't like. I wouldn't mind it if it weren't for that, but then again, Blizzard is apparently fond of retcons, so I shouldn't say I'm surprised... XD

i don't want to offend you, but according to your channel you're 15... how are you even able to judge if the people at blizzard are doing a worse job compared to their past accomplishments? i mean you were like 10 when WoW came out, 3 when starcraft came out and about to be born or maybe even not born yet when warcraft 2 came out... again, don't take this personally, i was just wondering. ;)

well sure the old games are classics, but that doesn't mean the new ones are bad. in fact, i'm pretty sure games like WoW or Starcraft2 will also earn the status of classic (if they haven't already).
as to the "world of world of warcraft" game you mentioned... i have never heard about that and, to be honest, it seems like a pretty silly name/concept for a game... i don't think it's true. ;)

Plus,It doesnt deserve to be such a big franchise,To me warcraft 3 reign of chaos will always be the best and the last.I think blizzard should ve stopped it there without making a never ending game.
My opinion,but an online MMORPG will never be a classic cos there are many free MMORPGs out there BETTER .

i don't agree. and i think anyone who tries to look at wow in a objective way will have no choice but to acknowledge how awesome this game has been and still is.
you know, i stopped playing wow when starcraft 2 came out and, at the moment, i have no intention of playing again... after 5 or 6 years of nonstop WoW, i got tired of it. nevertheless, i must say it's been one of the best games i've ever played and i'm happy to have done so.

@Caminacels then you have missed out on many other mmorpgs cos WoW ,to any other MMORPG player out there like me,would know its just as much as any 3D mmorpg can get to.Moreover,the P2P limitation isnt really attractive to games anymore.Cash shops,offers thats how others make cash and they are getting famous.
WoW isnt the only great 3D mmorpg out there anymore is what im saying .

@Caminacels I am a mere by-stander here but, even though this lad may only be 15, he may be clever. I know it's not commonly spoken of but some15 year old "kids" have common sence and logic.
And anyone with common sense and logic knows gameplay over graphics and would be able to tell the difference from past games to the present once.
And the past was better, I agree on this point, for me the diablo 2 LoD was the highrise of their career.
And i loved it. But they still are better then most.

i never said he wasn't clever or that he didn't have common sense and logic. the reason why i talked about his age was that he was very young when these games came out (wc2, starcraft, diablo etc)... so how can he really judge if they were better than blizzard's new games? he most certainly never played them as actively as the older players among us. again, it was not my intention to flame him as a stupid kid, wich i'm sure he isn't.

You're an idiot. Blizzard is one of these days large fucking jokes in the gaming world, owned by Activision. It's the same with EA. Everything they touch now turns to crap. I'd be seriously surprised if anything turns out to be different about Diablo 3.
The (new) CEO even said himself that Blizzard doesn't make games to be fun. They make games to sell in as large quantities as possible. And that goal alone rarely makes for a genuinely fun game or an out-of-the-box mindset..

You know... It really is impossible to compare WC2 with WoW. They are two completely different game genres, MMO and RTS. They are both excellent games in their own right. It's like comparing ping-pong to soccer, absolutely nonsensical.

@tropix93 it is about the continuity of the game... The RTS warcraft was a success, because RTS players made it, and now they've gone and changed it into an MMO. That is what sucks about WoW.

Yes, that is true that it is quite a turn from the other games. It's true that that pissed off a lot of the traditional RTS players. But that is not reason to discredit the game as an MMO. Because it's a great game as an MMO, just like the first three were great games as RTS games. While it's a major twist in the style of the games, it's still awesome for it's type.

Absolutely brilliant song from an incredible soundtrack, videogame songs were so much more distinctive and unique back then, I severed my ties with Watcraft after 2 but I'm going to give 3 another shot shortly.

stick with the classics, trust me... the newer games seem fun for a while... and this may just be me... but when i went back to the classics, being reminded of some of them after quite long i found them lacking... somehow losing the magic they had 15 years ago...
I really dont know how to explain it properly but i guess its similar to "The grass is greener on the other side"
