I think so. Windows 7 and Vista SP2 are very similar. They both use similar amount of RAM and resources.

Although Windows 7 performs better in some areas as it has an improved platform.

Yeah, I go for XP I mean Vista the only difference is that it has those aero effects and the search thing.But in XP you can install that.XP ROCKS!! And its way better for gaming.And since I like to play MMO games I love XP.GO XP!!!!!!!!!! Im so getting a XP laptop later on.

For an avg. user that only dose simple day to day tasks Vista beats the hell out of XP. But for pro's like me doing more heavy duty tasks and needs a much more stable OS to run programs knowing that they will actually work, XP beats the hell of Vista. For my useage I broke windows 7 within 3 days, XP has been going for 8 months, works fine. NONE of my fav. programs work on win7, so it depends on how people use it. I down graded from 7 to XP cause its so much better, but wait for SP1 guys!

windows vista is better ive had 3 pcs all designed for xp they all borke within a year and had alot of crashes i payed 700£ for each! all desktops oh then i buy a visa laptop for 400£ last year and it works perfectly with only on ecrash and that was because i messed with something and ive had NO viruses not one give me thumbs down all u whant i no the truth you unedgucated xp fanboys better start lookin at the facts and ignoring what vist was like many years ago and what its like now

Windows 7 is definitely the best choice, and I advise buying it on lay away while it's cheap, second Vista, considering it is a completely upgraded OS, don't listen to amateurs who have no idea what they are talking about, XP is bottom of the line, and soon to be obselete

Xp is way better than vista. Its 10x easier to use, uses less memory, space, and practically never crashed unless someone fucks it up. Vista crashes, hard to use, not a good gaming computer, and all the freakin alert messages. but windows 7...its a whole new story.

Sigh... Vista is not hard to use, it is more advanced than XP because it is newer, Vista crashes less than XP actually, infact XP has crashed over 10 times during my use of it, while Vista has crashed none, and as for games, people complain that old games using older software doesn't work very well, but there old... newer games work great, like Crisis, Gears of War, etc. and sure XP uses less memory, because it's older, Vista requires more RAM and CPU which is why they make NEW computers 4 it.
