Meh, weak parody. Maybe I'm just biased because the original was so good and this isn't really detracting from the original in any meaningful way. It just distracts you from the original until you hear it and then you think, "This shit is awesome, Crash Test Dummies rock."
@poopshipdelight funny thing is that weird al yankovic was talking about most popular news from that year :D so its true all... and yeah for everyone else - parody of a song is always legal, never stealing. you are allowed to make parody of any song on this world, sell your version and make money.
once, there was this stooonerr, he woke up one morning with a huge as boner, then he went and beaat off, he said he couldnt cum when his mom came into the baathrooom..
@iamogg He doesn't steal it, he pays rights for the tune, and then because he sings and mixes it himself all over again with different lyrics, he is quite within rights to do it ... these days he even has bands asking him to do parody's free of charge, there is no stealing in what he does, he just makes stuff funnier and people love it :P
@EternalInfernal012 I think there was one exception, though. It's been said the guys that did "Gangsters Paradise" didn't want him doing a parody, so he did it anyway, unauthorized! Some people take themselves too seriously! If it's a true story, anyway...
@TheCupcakes1234800 I highly doubt that .... He has always honoured the original bands that he does the parady from ... There have been many songs over the years that he has wanted to do, but the band wished for the tune to be left alone ... I also understand that a lot of bands find it an honour to actually have a parody as well and I have also heard of bands that play it with him purely to have their name there with his ... could you show me where you found that info???
@EternalInfernal012 Sorry about the "cupcakes" thing; my daughter's ID was up and I didn't see it. I'm trying desperately to remember where I heard or saw it; since I can't, let's try Wikipedia! (tick..tick..tick) I'm back! Look up "Amish Paradise" and the whole thing is laid out, probably most accurately, to boot. For all I know, I read an "Urban Legend" version of the controversy, but one does exist...
Be original.. that is.. when no have idea...!

@EternalInfernal012 If I was in a band, and I got a call from Weird Al about making a parody of one of my songs, I would be HONORED.
vwagenjetta 2 months ago
@vwagenjetta I'm not saying I wouldn't I was just enlightening someone to the fact that Weird Al has never STOLEN anything
