oh c'mon...Turnbull made sure he didn't win by ensuring his close colleagues didn't vote for him...who would've wanted that poisoned chalice? it was an exercise in setting himself up as the next leader of the Liberals.
I would like to see Julie Bishop lead the Liberal party with Costello back in as treasurer. He is just brilliant, and she is a very articulate and a professional representative of the party. Malcolm should be representing small business, put Tony into families, Joe back into workplace relations, bring Alex back in as foreign minister and move Brendan to Health where he could do the best job. Then i think you would have the dream team that could oust Rudd at the next election. Heres hoping!
welcome to opposition people. Im sure the magority of the liberal supporters who comment on this particular video still support workchoices as well. Brendan nelson will have the job for at least 12months because no one else would want the job any sooner, its a poisoned chalice until the memories of the arrogant last years of the former government is somewhat faded. I for one would like turnbull, his articulate and despite his great, well earned, wealth - likeable and in touch with australians
Brendan Nelson, Hahahahahahah, Julie Bishop WHO???? are you kidding, they'll hang around for their super and gold travel pass and then turn off the lights & pissoff, the Fiberals are gone for good.
The Libs didnt put Turnbull in the seat because they didnt want a big bussness figure-head running there party for the simple reason they know they lost the election because of there big bussness ties and industrial reform.
Turnbull in the chair would have caused more damage.
Actually, I hope that Nelson and Turnbull have their little tiffs and eventually we will have the return of Mr Costello/Julie Bishop. I can't see Nelson or Turnbull being able to do the job.
Im a sparky and today when i got home from work i received a huge package, and on the front it read "Eureka Howards Gone!"lol. It was basically a whole magazine dedicated to degrating john and costello lol.
gee i wonder if it was more union propaganda...even when they have lost the unions still keep sinking the boots in...amazing this is where yr union contributions go!!
i meant they as in the liberal party lost and the unions just keep sinking the boots in and the scary thing is that the labor party won but u think the unions won...interesting
Malcolm Turnbull supports saying sorry to our Aboriginal Australians, he agrees that WorkChoices needs to go, and he supports the signing of Kyoto. What the hell is he doing in the Liberal Party? He seems to be the exception to the general Liberal rule of thumb - the man actually appears to have a social conscience!
There have always been social libertarians in the liberal party. The social conservatism of the past 11 years is just a characteristic of Howard's leadership.
Yes there have been some good people in the Liberal Party over the years - Malcolm Fraser one notable example. Even Menzies recognised the importance of social cohesion. Howard totally obliterated that view, for political gain, which for a nation of migrants is social poison. Social Conscience has been conspicuously absent in the Liberal Party the last 11 years. Malcolm may be a glimmer of hope within the Lib ranks...
If you think he is a good choice and the best person to lead the liberal party then when did u park your spaceship...malcolm turnbull is a far better choice and WILL lead the liberal arty to the next election...i think i know the liberal party very well
Same old liberal party, with Howard gone. There is no chance they will win in 2010. Keeping Workchoices, didn't Australia voted to get rid of them. Not saying sorry to the aborigines, etc, etc. The liberal party is now in disarray. At least Tunbull was a glimar of hope for them.
Why does anyone have to say Sorry to the Aboriginals.Isn't that the British Govt job. How can a few boat loads of convicts be responsibity for survival.
i agree..if it were purely symbolic and the aborigines weren't going to sue and get compensation then say sorry...if however when u say sorry and that then leads to compensation then no..i think they get enough government handouts.
i agree that it's about time the handouts stop, as it's only making the current problems worse.
giving them more land for them to live the way they did back in the day is no longer an option because the colonization has wrecked it and the environment it exists in.
either they live like the people who colonized the land they once had to themselves and contribute to the overall demise of humanity, or live like they are now minus the handouts and die off anyway.
It wasn't part of the curriculum when I went to school. But then where I went to school was a long way from nowhere. We employed Aboriginal stockmen. They were very good. You wouldn't have handled the brown snakes!!

Turnbull is playing Mr Nice guy, because the Liberals lost the election.
Turnbull is only sorry that HE is not leader of the liberal party.
After World War 2 you could not find a NAZI in Germany.
Today, in the liberal party you cannot find a person who supported Howard the gutless coward.

whoa whoa whoa.
weren't you the person in the other comment thread fapping off all that nostalgia?
slight hypocrisy there :-/
both governments are responsible for an apology.....but more so our own.
why?.......well, you should have known that before you hit grade nine.
CohanDigitmatta 4 years ago
No, I don't know why anyone owes then an apology.Tell me !
pi550 4 years ago
the policies engineered by the system were responsible for the atrocities commited against the aboriginal people.
therefore the person who takes responsibility for what the system does (now rudd) has a duty to apologise formally for what was done to them.
the formal apology is still owing.
