  • Your just dissing the "I Love College" song. Which regardless of its content was a smart maneuver. With that song he not only pushed himself to the spotlight but made money and entertained all the shit-heads. This song tricked shit-heads into buying an album that contained so many good, deep, meaningful raps. Listen to "Sour Patch Kids" and "His Dream"

  • I agree with thetextphantom man. Keep this up. I beleive rap has gotten too material. Too much about money, drinkin, smokin, shit like that. Just keep doin what you do and maybe we'll return rap to it's roots.

  • Keep the ill underground shit up bro. These children that comment on youtube is whats wrong with music these days. They cant tell a sample from a original. They think rap is hip hop. They think asher roth aint an industry made clown like lady gaga. Well im here to tell you he is. He lived a town over. NOBODY knew his in the underground scene. His sister got him in the game through her job and they ran with it. Yardley Pennsylvania. He was a rich yuppie kid to start. Know your history YOUTUBE.

  • I have too admit, as a big Roth fan this is tight. BUT, asher isnt all about I love college, and that song is pretty shitty, but listen to some of his other stuff pleeasee. I Love College really makes him look bad haha.

  • See, I think it’s all because I’m light skinned

The ones hatin on me is these motherfucking white kids

I mean jeez you should see all of the disses

“All the suck a dick I kill you fuckin bitch”

I’m like what the hell is this shit

    - Asher Roth

  • he chose to right it to asher because if he doesn't put someone famous on the title nobody will view it

  • Wow this is excellent, you make so many good points I am not sure where to start... You are an emcee that needs to be heard by more than 7k people in a year period of time.. it's too bad youtube doesn't promote real hip-hop songs like yours

  • @homelessryank Ur Right I Apologize

Jus Like U Could Have Changed The Station I Could Have Ended The Video

I Enjoy Asher Roth & The Rhymes He Has That Arent Frat Boy, Sex Innuendo

Ur Lines R Pretty Good Just Where You Place Ur Energy In Difficult To "Admire"

    OK

  • checking this guys myspace web page is worth it

  • Im disgusted by the amount of stupidity illustrated in the comments on this video, first off "I Love College" is not the only song by roth and does not sum up the person he is, and it was more of a segway to his other music, its hard to catch attention unless ur talken about somethin appealing to the public, but on the other hand kids sayin he doesnt do it for the money?please he may not abuse it like others do but apart of him does it for the money did he not say he almost quit b4 he got signed

  • that was good. but its kinda mumbled. it wasnt that clear

  • wow i saw some of your poetry videos and liked them and i just saw this rap and it is AWESOME i completely agree and what kid of rap do u listen to?

  • Where is your open letter to every other rapper that spits garbage? Why ONLY Asher? Did he diss you or something? This is dumb. Why don't you have an "open letter" to Eminem for talking about his drug use? What about 50 Cent for his gunplay? You got a tight flow.. But this is just retarded... You jumped on the Asher Roth hater bandwagon. It's sad.

  • You should listen to the third verse again.

"You're not the first rapper to be damaging on a track

I got a disappointment bone to pick with all commercial rap

Not throwing the first stone, not perfect by any stretch

But if we dont fix this art form, we're seconds from a wreck"

  • The hook mentions Roth, but mostly refers to "these artists" and "hip hop's priorities". Roth taking something beneficial for young listeners like higher education and demeaning it and focusing on booze, weed, sex, and parties and distributing that single like it was the only thing he had to say was the last straw on radio rap for me personally. So I said something about it, and tried to comment on commercial rap as a whole within it.

  • Thanks for saying the flow is tight. Check the myspace for other music if you like.

  • My issue with it is IF you have an issue with the industry as a whole.. WHY is Asher only in the title? And the entire video is him. It just seems to me that you jumped on the Asher Roth hater bandwagon. And it seems like you're basing your entire opinion on ONE of his songs (his worst at that). I really do understand your disdain for the industry. I am sick of hearing about guns drugs and money. I really do dig your flow man. It's tight. I just can't really side with you on this song.

  • Fair enough. I appreciate the dialogue, man. As a college educated white male rapper, this specific emcee, and song got to me more deeply than a lot of other industry music. I felt like this was a place where I could exercise a relevant opinion.

It was only one song, but you have to admit, he was introduced and marketed on that single almost entirely. Most radio listeners couldn't name another song by him.

I appreciate you taking the time to comment, man. I'll look for you on myspace.

  • He absolutely was marketed by that song. And I feel you on radio listeners not knowing anything about him outside of that song. But at the same time.. It was made as a feel good song. Like you said in this song.. You like to drink smoke and have a good time. That's what he's trying to get acrossed.

I appreciate you actually taking the time to respond to comments. It's rare that an artist does that. I commend you.

  • And I'm about to add you to myspace...

  • then what do you want ash to rap about then? guns, gangs , what ? he is rapping to help and i love college was not made to be a insane lyrical song and i love college is far off from what ash can do lyricaly. and in my personal oppnion ash is rapping about what we should rap about. who fucking cares how much money you have who cares if you are jokin the bitchs and slappin the hos ash is the new era of rap ethier accept it or shut the fuck up

  • Honesty and articulation in spades, Thanks for this

  • Asher is better than this dude. He raps about being free. Not about being rich and shit. and whoever produced this sucks

  • agreed .. this is a good rap but asher is just being himself thats his personality he doesnt care about the money or anything else he is just having fun

  • this shits wack

  • fuckin sexy

  • Anyone who's rooted in hip hop and sees it as more than a vehicle for the advancement of drinking, weed, and women, anyone who knows that it began as an act of rebellion, of independence, knows that rap has gone down a disappointing road & needs a change. HOV agrees, listen to the Blueprint III, read an interview. Or better yet, read a book. These lyrics are ill, this lyricist is fresher and more honest than Roth. Come on people, I love college? Personally, I preferred graduation. End of story.

  • tbh i show a great deal of respect to "M.r Asher roth" and he is had done well to get wear he is but homeless man this is a fucking tune i hope you go for man hope you make it big

  • who ever made this song is fucking stupid as hell ..like don't base and artist off of one song ...the dude is about more then party shit .......thats like saying jay-z is some shit because of Hawaiian Sophie......

  • i wish i had a myspace or a facebook so i spread this.

Seriously though, I see kids with Roth tshirts and I'm like "who the fuck is Asher Roth"? Then I finally find myself in a position where I have to listen to the radio and i hear "I love college" and I'm like 'ur fucking kidding me, right".

  • i agree

  • ya i love college is about getting wasted and high and partying but listen to Sour patch kids, and his take on A millie...asher has a voice about political issues...i love college is in good fun listen to his other stuff before u all say he is nothing but a kid who will dissapear becsaue hes only here for the fame of one song

  • amen

  • idk i hated rap so much until my sisters boyfriend showed me asher roth hes really the only rap i listen to and i love his lifestyle and how he doesnt rap about all his money and cars he raps about life and the planet like listen to his song stop waiting on the world to change he balanses hist party life with being serious idk hes sick

  • this isn't bad.. but major labels are produced for the masses. if you want to listen to meaningful rap music go check out some underground indie labels for hip hop.

  • How Is This Not A Diss Record

    Its Trash Envious Hate

nobody made you listen to him change the station and stop hating

  • this guys pretty ill.. but still like damn i want a rapper for once who was still smart enough not to smoke and can stil rip an ill record

  • dude all rappers frm underground 2 mainstream smokes bruh

  • i totally agree, wise words :-)

  • In the new issue of XXL, Marshall addresses the Asher Roth comparisons. He saids that he only heard some of Asher's songs and doesnt really know what he's about but thinks he is dope... you can find the article on google hope it helps.

  • Well ino im anot someone to be talking but icant saythat your dissing him bc your not butyou cant aim at himReally you dont know himUmight hear his music but comeonDont pickhim outEverytime i turn aroundppl either tryto bring him downor pickhim out onwat everyonethinks"hiphop"isreally about.Nobody knows wat hiphop should bEits just wat it soundsSo dont pick on ppl wen u dont knowwhat they mean or anthingDont have hatebc its either dontlisten or dont discriminate~With love(someone needed to sayit

  • To anyone who thinks this song is a diss to Asher. It's not. It was never intened to be one. He even tells you on the record that its not. Really, I think all he's tryin to say is that hip-hop needs to change course before it gets devoured within its self by trying to stand out.

  • everyone has theyre own opinion.

also roth has his own style of MUSIC.

That of any art, different styles.

so the guy who made this track is dope.

asher roth, in his own style of hip-hop is dope.

    art is art.

And there are many diff. styles of it.

Same as Dance. Im a dancer but i respect all other dance styles. aight late.

    ''Z-bruh''

  • Thank You

  • not bad man. check out "I hate asher" on youtube

  • Dude u serious! you make a procalamation about how Asher Roth Sucks? He aint even tht big yet, hes got one hit haha idk dude ya u can pick on a goofy white kid, anyone can do tht haha why dont you try writing a letter to actual good rappers who would whip ur ass for saying this kinda crap about them?hahaha but poking at a new up and coming white boy please man, get a life

  • This song isnt really a dis in my opinion, its an attempt to be noticed, a Good attempt, This guy right here has hella skills, and i think he SHOULD be recognized either way you look at it, this song makes alot of sense, its about the rest of us who also work our whole lives writing, rhyming, rapping, and never make it, when asher never really had intesntions of being a rapper and made it

  • Thanks a lot. Much appreciated.

Thank you for taking the time to listen intently and comment.

  • you are missing the point entirely. A. he never says Asher Roth Sucks. not once. that is a gross oversimplification. B. why would you write something like this and direct it at a good rapper? If they're quality, let em keep doing what they do. It's about content not taking shots as a powerplay C. if it's "weak" or warrants a "get a life" to discuss someone who isn't big yet, how are we supposed to look after the genre of hip-hop? How are we supposed to look out for the future of things?

  • Your not off base!!!

Asher Roth is straight Turd in the eyes of anyone who loves REAL true hip-hop.

  • this shit is better than roth lol

  • im bout to download asher's cd illegally and then will see if its worth it

  • Party, feel-good hip-hop is a fine thing, so long as we call it what it is. Anointing or promoting garbage like Ash Roth as smart and intelligent is detrimental to the game as a whole. Asher is worse for the genre than something equally asinine like "Stanky Leg", because he claims to be something more. If we label or sell this as intelligent hip hop, it makes it more difficult for something truly worthwhile to come along.

(If you want to come after someone on lyrics, at least spell properly)

  • I wouldn't go as far as to say that Roth's music is "garbage." It's not really "Original Hip-Hop" but it'd fall under the category of "Modern Day Hip-Hop." Which quite honestly, is terrible. Includes terrible artists such as Lil' Wayne & Soulja Boy. Roth's music has a later day Eminem feel, just listen to "Encore." The CD that is, and they'll sound the same. Though, Em is far superior. But they compare well along with The Beastie Boys. That's just my opinion, sir.

  • thats wusup keep em coming dude asher is wack!

  • OMG Asher sounds better then u, hes lyrically betta then u He flows better then N he LOOKS muuuch better then u!!!! His album is amazing n its some serious stuff in there 2 u should have checked it out b4 u embarrassed ur self fuck face. N ooh I forgot U fucking suck! I hope that this is not what u wanne do, if this is ur plan A Go 2 plan B. BUY ASHER ROTHS album ppl (its not going 2 b a waste of money) This was a waste of time
  • Highly enjoyable

  • Not here to hate... I just don't find it entertaining when people go after Roth. He's a little rodent, not intimidating, corny goofy white kid having a good time, and while you might question some of his shit, it doesn't compare to 90% of hiphop in terms of promoting messages irresponsibly.

You have solid rhymes, use that to your advantage, and go make good music. I like the sound of this... I just think the substance sounds desperate and misguided.

  • Well said. And I appreciate the compliments.

Roth was the straw that broke my back in radio hiphop. I tried to write a hook/third verse that applied disappointment to commercial rap in general. I felt Roth originally came with some potential and lost it, while most pophop doesn't even claim or try to be more than just that. I admit I'm scapegoating him here, but felt like something needed to be said.

Thanks for checking it out and sharing your opinion. Check the myspace for my more real music.

  • I don't disagree with your opinion on commercial at all, I feel you there, it's painful. I think the best way to put it in the dirt is to rise above it, and just go kill it with your own original style... keep pushin' man, I'll check ur tracks...

  • well done my dude

  • No one knows what you mean, Sold nursery rhymes and your soul, MTV wet dreams

So tight, keep rippin' it cuz

  • Begs the question....if Asher Roth manages to wear a shirt, does he own anything but that fucking Undercrown "College" joint?

Knocked it out the park on this one kid. Gettin to be a hell of a marksman with your ammo.

  • He is headed for self destruction.

    Dig the piano.

  • ill...

no need to single out asher roth, since it applies to MOST of the industry, but yeah...

    he has a fuckin point:

"trying to gain fans, but your losing MCs"

  • true that

  • fuckin sick. : )

  • dope
