This guy's pendulum was coming along at the time he took this video, but nowhere near good enough to be presenting himself as a casting coach. I wonder if he's any better at it now. Braid shock leaders are commonplace amongst the sportfishing fleet out of San Diego. Doesn't need to stretch, just needs to survive the g-forces of the swing.Very quick to attach, run the mainline up inside the braid and give it a simple overhand knot. But mono on the beach, due to braid's vulnerability to abrasion.
Can you explain why you use a Braid Shock Leader? Thats ass backwards if you ask me... the purpose of a shock leader is to stretch and absorb impact and shock, when you run a line with 3% or less stretch it doesnt absorb shock it just transfers to the main line.
I use braid on everything as my main line, it does not give at all.
i have to start again as i have ran out of room . These leads can be propelled over 300 YARDS not FEET with the right Rods , his Pendulum Cast or Brighton Cast ( Brighton is a Coastal Sea Resort on the South Coast of England ) is not even Loading the Rod he Has . He also has his reel in the Wrong position for a Power Cast ( see UKSF CASTING ON YOU-TUBE ) . The fish will Hook Themselves After taking the Bait as the lead is fixed in . The wires collapse on strike and retreaval .
Just to let you all know ,These products are made by BREAKAWAY in England the sinker he is Holding ( red top ) are called IMPACT LEADS and are 6 ounces in weight , Yellow top are 5 ounces , Blue 4 ounces . They are meant to dig in like an ANCHOR when there is a flowing Tide . Pretty much all the time in the UK , you let the line Bow out so the Bow catches the Tide and the lead Digs in . So effectively you are fishing Up or Down stream of the Tidal Flood or Run Off , Yellow for a normal tide.
bro i cast further with my bass rod. come down to Hatteras and we'll show you how to do it. when you learn how to really chuck it , you'll be out past those breakers in no time
An other way is to use a bait clip near the sinker this works verry well if you dont want to use a penel rig but a standard clip down its a pice of steel in a J shape and its held on the trace line by a tube and bent over on the open end.
27.5% of the time haha this guy make me laugh! i live in the uk and all this stuff is avalible but there is alot of other makes around too that do the same job! i also use the PENN mag 525 reels ( the best! ) also penn ppt viper rods but this guy crakes me up haha!
OH and that cast was not 300FT! watchin the video it looks about 150-160 tops!
@sblexus1 oh and you dont need 120LB shock leader!! 60 is by far enough! and use TAPERD it is 65lb and gradualy gets thinner to 15LB so that its much more earo dinamic than straight through!
you dont have enough line on your penn mag. you dont use your impact shields correctly the hook will get stuck behind the line. you cant cast far you are lucky if you hit 120 yards. u talk shiiiitttttt
Hey matt... I checked the breakaway tackle online but they seem to have changed their weights! I mean it doesn't looks like the weights could hold the hooks...
Any other alternatives on how to keep the hook intact?
There's really no need for a 120# shock leader. The general rule to follow is 10# of shock for each ounce of weight. So a 120# shock would only be necessary if you're using 12 oz of lead, not including the bait.

Malays do the best surf casting. Seriously! You white people only invent the equipments. But we invent our own way of fising, which is much better than yours. We can catch Rays that weigh 126kg by surf casting from shore.
Actually if you're looking for the most hardcore surf fishing you'd be hard-pressed to find better than ulua fishing from cliffs in Hawaii. And the best surf casting is to be found in the UK and Europe. World champion caster Danny Moeskops from Belgium recently threw almost 950ft in tournament.
i hope you dont take offence but over here in england, 450 foot casts while beachcasting are nothing exceptional, ipersonally have achieved 200 yards . your style of cast is all wrong the power comes from body rotation plus pulling through with your left arm and pushing through with your right try the reel in the low position and watch some uk casting videos competition casters reach 250 plus yards with the record by danny mosekoopes at over 300 good luck
27.5% of the time the fish dies with J hooks? That's a seriously accurate statistic, I would love to see his lengthy research to back those numbers up...
can someone giv me the name of a good casting reel for throwing 8 oz baits 2 to 3 hundred yords my reel mony is $50 i have 600 ft of 25 and one diowa beef stick
@mattgeb84 yeah i noticed this..... im not a surf casting pro but im sure its the other way around... on all my outfits for either beach, deep sea (game) and even estuarie fishin i use braid main line and a mono or flurocarbon leader !! .. maybe cause im actually goin out to catch fish not jus cast ? iunno... but thinkin about it .... shouldnt he b usin a 14 - 18lb microfused crystal fireline with 30lb flurocarbon leader to have everything as thin as possible ... iunno i dont get it.
I have to do this in several posts due to the character limit.
if you want to cast long distances such as 150 - 200 yards (450 - 600 ft) or even furthur you will need at least a 12ft beach casting rod, some of the best makes to look out for are century and conoflex. These are serious pieces of kit so its worth trying to find them second hand as they can be upward of £300 ($500).

good vid.. loved it, but regarding the shockleader i have my doubts with the superbraided line, shockleaders should have some flex in them. I love the breakaway products to... having problems finding leads in sweden, could order from uk but shipping costs to much..
what real is that?

Mate, I am not a shore fisherman, but I can hit 1.5 times that distance with a standard off the ground cast.
Top UK casters are hitting 250 yards+
The distance you are getting is a bit weak to be giving advice to others???

Hey man, can you put a bunker chunk or a bunker head on the hook and still fit it under the sliding part and have it work properly?
I want to buy the breakaway pulley rig from the website, but I want to know if it works for bunker chunks or not first.
I want to use this rig for surf casting for striped bass.
Could you perhaps upload a video with an actual piece of bait on the hook??
Thanks

I used chunked herrin as bait it sometimes falls off the hook but for the most part works fine

You did ask about better/other products.
Try out the "Dvice" You can cast delicate baits, or head hooked worms long distances.
I Initially had reservations about this Dvice, but I am totally hooked. Please excuse the pun !!.
