No fancy custom hand-made instruments here. He's using a cheap, common, Alexandria drum that has been worn down to bare metal. This proves that it's all about the skill of the player! Well done.
You have a similiar style to me, i love it. 5 stars. You got some unique beats tho, im definately going have to listen well and learn some stuff from you.
... But I think It can be better ... the problem was like it is a long solo for drbakke solo .. so it was much better in the beginning than the end ..
I'm sorry but there are a lot of rhytm losses in this performence. The beatfixer and the darbuka player don't level. GOOD darbuka playing tough! '4 stars'.

hello, pazza7 and mination45. thank you for the comments. I acknowledge that I had probs control of the hands. concerning the noise, will know that the derbouka with which I had played is not professional any more. will still know that this video is recorded in 2003.now I progressed much and your remarks add me more one. thank you. with the pleasure of reading your comments. abdelhadi
Well i`ll have to agree with mination45 on this one . This guy`s hands are all over the place and his technique kinda sucks . But still it sounds pretty good and i think that with more practice this guy will soon get the proper technique
minanation45 everyone has different opinions dickhead! since u can judge a darbuka player im ensured that you kno how to play better than him eh? well i got on ur profile and it seems to me that you have no videos. so if you cannot play or don't play dont judge others that do
Obviously if I can point out certain flaws in differing techniques it must mean I DON'T do them. LOL! I don't flail my hands and arms around like a kid when I play. Look, you want to see someone with perfect technique, look up Faisal Zedan. Not all can play like him, and I don't expect them to. I know not everyone can be professional but there's a huge difference when you KNOW correct technique. This player isn't great, and if you want to be a pro you won't get anything out of this video.
If everyone can have different opinions, let me have mine. I didn't insult you, I just gave an opposing opinion to your comment. Don't take it personal, it's not an attack on you. I like hearing other ideas and opinions, mostly from andriesu because he actually knows what he's talking about. So tell me why this guy is good? The solo is good, yes. But that's not enough. What do you like about this drummer's technique specifcally?
I can't help watching this cringe-worthy performance over and over. His hands are like rubber!! It looks SO BAD and sounds worse. Like a little kid beating on pans. Holy hell.
Mination i am agree with Pazza7-it's different when you Know how must sound good player and to play by your self like you whant...About teacher-for instance i had very good teacher with best stroke and sound between all buharians and uzbek drummers but i was seating against him and i coudn't make the same sound even when he put my hand exactly on right place-i had'nt same sound and not all depends on teacher..
Another thing andriesu, what do you think about pazza7's videos? Just curious, I enjoy reading your opinions greatly. You're sometimes too hard on Arabic style drummers but it's okay.
Regarding teachers, as long as your hand positioning and movement is good, then it doesn't matter. Of course sounds produced will vary among individuals, some hands are stronger, some weaker. The problem with this drummer is not the sound, but it's the way he plays. A good teacher would have taught him to control his hands and not let them bounce and fly around. He has Mary Ellen Donald technique. hahahaha
LOL, yeah. Real excellent since spastic fingers and flailing hands are so much better than controlled, smooth technique. This guy had a terrible teacher. He could have been a great with the correct training.
LOL, andriesu. Arabic style is good when it's played good. I am surprised you like this video, to be honest. This guy's technique is wrong and it's all over the place. It's a shame because he knows what he's doing but he's not executing the technique correctly. There's a HUGE difference between both. If this guy learned the right way to play, he would be a Master, no doubt about it.
Sounds great but would be better if you had a nicer drum

Isn't Darbouka called Tabla in the middle east, and Darbouka in Turkey and the Balkan states?
DosWallandros 3 years ago
not really. it is mainly referred to as tabla in egypt and palestine/jordan. its name in arabic is darbuka/darbeke. i'm not really sure why the indo european word "tabla" became favored in some countries. darbuka comes from the arabic root: "darab" which means to beat. ask the turks where this word comes from...
