the hardware and pearl tom mounting systems is part of the reaon why i bought a pearl masters mca over a tama starclassic to be honest, but they both sound great with properly tuned heads
I don't know why someone would test a drum head until it breaks. The only drumhead I ever broke was snare bottom. It just couldn't stand how hard I hitted it.
That hi-hat is dark, is it lighting or is it coated (Pitch Black or something else)?
I'm getting a new cheap Tama kit, gonna need to get some heads as I'm sure the stock ones will suck. I used to have Remo heads on an old crappy kit I had, but the kit as a whole sounded terrible.. So I won't blame that on Remo, and will probably give them a second chance.
but I will say that I like the way they sound on maple much better than birch. I still haven't had the chance to post new videos with the mic's but you can hear the difference between the two.
Not saying they dont they just haven't for me..I tried the Evans EC2's for the first time (Usually use G2's) and I dont like them either so..Just saying from my experience ; )
you might tune up your toms...although it could be your recording equip. but from my computer here where i am, all your toms sound like a very open bass drum.
Yeah EVANS EC2s! i love those heads so much. on the kick, i perfer the aquarian super kick2. i love the tonality it gives. it makes my 20" bass sound like a cannon!
Your kit sound pretty good with evans but i think I will stick with remo i find that they have a slightly richer tone. I like pinstripes and I think EC2s are really plasticy. I don't like the EMAD on the kick it dents up really quick, I either use a Powerstroke 3 or a Pinstripe.
True, now that I have the drums mic'd I want to ditch the thick heads and go back to a single ply. Totally agree with the softness of the EMAD. I had to replace the head every other month. Grrrrr!
Well, you could stick with 2-ply, remo emperors and pinstripes sound stellar mic'd. however, pinstripes are kind of dead. However, I think a coated ambassador will have a lot more resonance and sensitivity for micing.
EVANS ALL DAY

evans don't sound too well on acrylic either. I think maple is the best for evans.

i.m.o. no drummer should ever use anything but wood drumstick on a set, and if you break a head, youre doing something wrong.

@JEsposito729 you seem to have a high tuning though, personally i think evans sounds much better at low tuning...

Yeah I have not broke a snare head since my first year playing and that was close to 15 years ago

Good, good drummer!!!! You play in shoes or in socks?
crosley72 2 years ago
I find I play with both. It comes down to laziness, if I have on shoes ill keep them on but if there off, they stay off.
I do like the feel of playing with only socks.
Cheers!

what sizes are your 3 toms to your front?
Roger17drummer 3 years ago
The sizes are 8x8 10x9 and 12x10, I'd like to have shallower toms to get them to sit lower but at the time these are the only ones I could get.
