Madison, WI, Critical Mass is asking Bike riders everywhere to remember the three fallen heroes who died on a Critical Mass ride here in Madison 4 years ago this month. The incident can be viewed in the documentary video: BUCKYSTEIN (#7) VS. Critical Mass ROAD RAGE!. You can leave comments for friends and family there as well. A remembrance Ride will be announced soon.
Critical Mass is an excuse to behave badly and has nothing to do to encourage the use of bikes as transport. They not only block traffic and public transit they harass pedestrians as well. Bunch of cowards who would do nothing on their own but in a mob they become Nazis on bikes
Car vs. Bike ... Car would win. Critical Mass is the only chance we have to scare the hell out of you drivers. Yeah, I'm scared when I'm biking by myself. Thats cuz you can kill me. There's no way I can hurt you in your car. Still wanna call me a coward, while you're safe in your metal bubble?? WHatever... See you next Critical Mass... I'm the one waving & smiling w/ thousands of my friends
And what will? giving drivers $4,500 for their old cars so they can buy new one?? I protest cars cuz drivers refuse to acknowledge us on the road. Critical Mass shows drivers we aint afraid of em and we wont take it anymore... all the while having fun.
Our chapter of Critical Mass sucks. How about some pointers. Check out 0ur Madison Wisconsin ride: BUCKYSTEIN (#7) VS. CRITICAL MASS ROAD RAGE! and see how uncaring drivers can be! (It's sick!)
@GeoffLafayette: A Central Location that everyone can meet at is vital. For us, it's located on a Plaza w/ access to BART (underground train) and MUNI (public transport). Flyering is optional, it's easier to build a site or post on MySpace/Facebook/online, etc. Promote at festivals, work with the local bike group (but you don't need thier support, cuz they legally cant), speak with the police & address your needs, i.e. we want to bike en mass... can you help?? just some thoughts.. hope it helps
Thank You, xpo147, your comments came at the right time! After the monstrous collision (as shown in BUCKYSTEIN (#7) VS. CRITICAL MASS ROAD RAGE!) where three of our members were killed, we haven't gone on a ride since. But we were just talking about getting Critical Mass up and going here in Madison, again. Your idea about the police might have saved lives last time.
@GeoffLafayette: Glad I can help! Cyclists need to stick together, cuz divided cars will simply run us over. Police here have very little patience when it comes to individuals acting out in anger, but Critical Mass is actually supposed to be peaceful protest. It's better to put up with us rather than arrest & go through thousands of paperwork. remember to follow the letter of the law as much as possible. Only reason we take over the road over here is cuz there are literally thousands of us
How is doing something just to piss people off ever a good thing? Unless your a douche bag.

Disrupt those SUV gas guzzler drivers, who cares? As long as they don't block buses or Toyota Prius' I am fine with that.

The Critical Mass concept sucks. It doesn't promote cycling.
