Thanks very much for posting this- i had this on an mp3 which said it was Al bowlly, i knew it wasn't. Then i saw my version credited as Rudy Vallee, again it didn't it sit right with me. Now i know it's Ambrose. Is this Sam Browne doing the vocal?
Sam Browne was such a great singer, he could sing anything and in any key. Bowlly has the reputation, but Sam was better by far.

I love Sinatra et al but this so much cheekier and wittier than any of the crooners' versions. Plus they leave out the best lyrics!

A really elegant arrangement and crisply played.The composers are americans who were resident in London at the time.Classic high standard Ambrose
