  • this is unbelievable

    /watch?v=VHkXWGw7UDU

  • He balls are steel to. They crawl on that wire like we would crawl on the grown. Fearlesly

  • damn, does anyone know the soundtrack in that video?

  • “There’s only three things I’ve ever been afraid of: electricity, heights, and women. And I’m married, too.”

    beyond cool

  • MD 500... alll the way baby!

  • this men is crazy!!!

  • fuck that job have that on my bad list!

  • FARADAY ROCKS.

  • Amazing....I don't fancy that job lol

  • who makes these suits? i cant find anything about them on google? i just keep getting sent back to this video! i want to know what they can and cant handle? the faraday suit can theoretically handle anything, as theyve worked in the most dangerous russian power plants without fail, right? so how much does it weigh? cost? is it available to civilians?

  • he one crazy dude

  • those guys got brass balls

  • idk about this shit... the suit is a faraday cage, right?

what can these suits handle? how much do they cost? weigh? maker?

    thanks.

  • that is some insane crap rite there!

  • Most serene video I've seen. Perfect music.

  • mm..must be funny to ground one of these phases :PPP :D ..btw..very impressive job..I have never seen that in my country

  • beautiful beautiful video..

  • ur live actually be in line

  • that's crazy

  • anyone know why he isnt getting electrocuted when he crosses two lines? I always thought you would be create a direct short between the two lines. My only guess is that the two lines are at the same potential

  • just found my next job

  • Except on 1/2 MVAC your capacitance in free space produces enough amps to kill you - look at that spark ^^

  • amazing video! Seriously!

  • Was listening to Play The Night by Hadouken when watching this. Goes great with it.

  • Looks like you and the pilot are a team. You have each other backs.

Pretty scary, bet it pays good.

    :)

  • don't touch the other phase lol

  • the lineman must not the end from the armoring touch ;-)

  • I dont understand. When you're opening computer it says you must be grounded, But if so, there is a chance you will be striked. Anyone care to explain?

  • i've seen videos for this, but never any as good as this video. very nice

  • ammmmmmmmmmmazing

  • i love the narrator style

  • I love how our lineman is so precise and ordered as he bonds to the cable (sets up) and finishes. He's so precise, machine-like, and this is why he and the pilot work well together.

  • I want to do this job

  • why does he touch the wire with the stick before he gets on the wire and after he is done?

  • this is like the Slidebrook Express at Sugarbush. Chairs going in both directions.

  • good! good! now lick it!

  • Shit's crazy!

  • WTF!!!

    COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @ obiwannotanikan yeah but 500kV? You'd literally evaporate.

  • has more respect for the electricity that you use

  • Jeez - I couldn't do that!

  • Neat video!

  • watch thegeekgroup they are pretty cool love there high voltage vids

  • So, the wand and the suit allow him to come to the same potential as the line safely, but how do birds safely come to the same potential as the line? Is their internal resistance just super high?

  • just prior to connection and disconnection to the wires. is the light rod used to avoid a sudden bang or large clap of electricity when connecting or disconnecting?? by gradually introducing the chopper the spark never gets too big or dangerous?? am i right??

  • I'm deeply impressed and a little bit scared too..

This video is really a precious peace of artwork showing not only the gentleman on the wire doing his scary job, but also the helicopter pilot , which is flying in unbeliveable precision. Both show in this amazing clip there work at top notch qualtiy. Also the way the clip was produced with shots never seen before is really remarkable. Thanks for sharing this video with us.. and allwyays keep save.

    kind regards from Mannheim, Germany

    Mike

  • Awe inspiring, and the music and narrators voice are so soothing.

  • How do you get started in that?!

  • these guys have BALLS!!!

  • I like when he says "well every move was thought of and rehearsed, so it is about as safe as crossing the street" that's respect right there.

  • Awesome Video!!!

  • Your friggen sitting on the cables

knowing that there are 0.5MV on

each line nd then you crawl on them

to make the inspection at like about 200

    feet from the ground?

    Damn..

    That IS real job.

    Im like O____O whoa man

  • lol powerline cllimbing. I never knew that existed. That should be an Olympic sport. xD

  • he's afraid of electricity, heights and ...? I couldn't quite get what he said

  • The shot over the Heli is amazing, and there is no doubt this is skill and concentration. Then again so is the pilot behind them filming. lol

  • It's volts that jolts, but mils that kills!

  • I hope these guys are getting paid well.

  • i think id like to do this .

  • so what happens if you forget the magic wand when the helicopter leaves?

  • What an awesome video, not just the job, but the video, the voice over, the music, the whole package. Nice touch by the pilot too.

  • Bet he's like Uncle Fester, he can stick a bulb into his mouth and watch it light up.

  • it takes balls

  • 'and im married, too'

    LOLOLOLOL

  • Anybody know the song that's playing?

  • Very cool!!!

  • I would love to do this at least once.

  • I first saw this video at work & had to find it again. It's one of my most favorite videos ever. Amazing!

  • This looks a lot like the sophomore year of my ninja training school. Except there were sharks swimming under the wires.

  • Teamwork... nice to see. Thanks for putting this on YouTube

  • so cool

  • Only people who are scared of electricity are the ones that do not understand it.

  • OK ITS WORKING FOR FUCKS SAKE, I SEE THE DAMN SPARKS!!

  • Can anyone identify the music used for this video? It's great and I would like to get a copy. Thanks.

  • i want this job

  • wow!!

  • I get goosebumps when i watch this.

  • I get goosebumps when I watch this!

  • this job is crazy and cool. hope the pay is good

  • thats cool.

  • OMG!! That is awesome!! But dude is it possible to move through that HT power lines without wearing those special suite?? Is that what really protecting him from getting fried up??

  • In the Websters dictionary, under the word "guts", is says see this video.

  • Thank this is very cool

  • This is awesome, I want that job!

  • sorry but i rather shovel pig shit 7 days a week

  • Holy crap

    Those guys are badasses.

  • I thought touching 2 lines would electrocute you, and the reason birds didnt get toasted was because they only touched one line at the time

  • Love the quote at the end: "There's only three things I've ever been afraid of. Electricity, heights, and women. And I'm married, too."

  • $77.80 an hour

  • yeah but 70% of that lines usage is in the form of light pollution

  • This job combines my 2 biggest fears ; that of heights and that of high voltage. It eventually had me quit my job as a radar technician. Even though you *know* you're safe, your fears may mislead you still.

Respect for people who practice this job, day in, day out.

  • what a shocker.

  • Can anyone give me a hint on why birds would not have to perform a potential compensation before landing on the cable while the helicoper does?

  • kind-o-makes his nuts "tingle" then he goes home and bang's the crap out of his wife & knocks her boots off !

oh yeah it's that good ♥

  • I think it's best to wear a suit of armour whilst performing tasks like these.

  • I wan't to do it with a suit of armour on

  • He's obviously a pussy, I used to do this job in a suit of armour on the ground.

  • The rod he reaches out brings the helicopter up to the same electrical potential as the lines. I know a guy who does this work, and he says he feels the constant discharge from his skin. He says its like a million on going bug bites, and it is known to last for several days afterwards.

  • What makes me curious is why he has to wear a hot suit but birds on power lines do not.

  • Why does he energize the side door platform in the chopper? Is that needed to equalize voltage potentials?

  • Looks plain silly when there's the other dude in the background.

  • good job :)

  • good job :)

  • nukin futs

  • Of job

  • What is the pay for this kind

  • Electricity, hights, and Woman.. lol the 3 things he is scared of thats crazy "and i'm married too.." ROLF!

  • Are you kidding me? This is totally wild. Never knew that people did this.

  • this is truly interesting

  • I would love to do this as a job. I've seen a lot of clips with people not wearing hot suits, and was wondering what voltage you could feel without a suit. Scary but would be fantastic, so much more fun than my desk job!

    Nick

  • This video is beautiful. Even the narrator has a beautiful voice and I wonder why I haven't heard it before. The man has Morgan Freeman potential. If I read a book this man's voice will be in my head with every word.

  • Absolutely amazing video!

  • yeah, he's totally relaxed. He's just hanging around xD

  • Its all safe if you do it right! he's just bringing himself and the helicopter to 500,000 volts electrical potential, as opposed to turning either to wires, their just tiny grounds themselves.

  • #VIDEOPOSTERID#, there actually is a website that people can easily goto to watch complete television shows, sport matches and movies. You'll find it's over at stream episodes [dot] net plus I make use of it every single day to watch each and every one of the tv shows I miss.

    High Voltage Cable Inspection

  • Balls of steel!

  • thats friggin nuts, that guy must have the balls the size of watermelons to do that kind of job. Holy shit, i'd never get that high, nonetheless be on electircal wires, my hats off to these people, for risking their lives like that just so the world can keep running. Im never gonna complain about my electrical bills ever again...

  • i've seen thousands of videos on the internets. this one is one of my favs, ultra neat subject, perfect music and a super nice and funny guy with a warm voice to explain what's going on. pure joy :)

  • what is the hourly rate of this job??????

  • I don't think it's only the amps that kill people. I think if you put a low voltage, low frequency about 90hz across your chest. example hold with right hand and with the left. This will cause de-fribulation of the heart and can stop it.

    Always respect live wires......

  • i love this video

  • nothing wrong with doing a little high voltage work from time to time! i've only ever worked on 138,000 volts before. i highly doubt i would step out on the lines like he did though! much respect!

  • hahaha, pure genius!

  • beautiful

  • Awesome!

  • Awesome!

  • The biggest danger? Developping leukemia in a not so distant future. Those huge magnetic fields does nothing good for the human body.

  • There are only three things I'm afraid of: Electricity, heights an women... And I married, too.

Well done. People who get over their fears are the ones who are real strong IMO.

  • Now that's a fricken rush!

  • Excellent video. I love it. And I like the comment at the end.

  • coool job ;)

  • Must be wearing some kind resistance suit to not get shock.

  • Fun job but damn that must be scary . . .

  • ARE U SHITTING ME?

  • @vonkiser my response exactly!

     Awesome stuff!

  • Great quality, unfourtunatedly I can´t put it in my blog, c'mon activate the option pleaseee

  • I understand the electricity side of things but I would still be scared as hell of the height (despite being clipped in and safe); Fear doesn't have to be rational, it's still fear.

  • REAL LIFE BALLS

  • narrator sounds like Winnie the Pooh...

  • You either have to be crazy or insane.....

  • Always funny how many "experts" chime in when electrical vids are shown. My advice as an electrician? Anybody who wonders about the "mystery" of electricity should go and get themselves a breadboard from radio shack and play with it. Trust me, learning basic electronics will translate into more knowledge than 80% of the E engineers I work with...and exponentially more than any u tube scribe!

  • Just amazing camera work... jaw dropping. I want to know how they got the audio so clear when he is sitting on the ledge of the helicopter or was it done by foley artists?

  • Looks like fun.

I love choppers, height and money.

  • Looks so peacefull but in reality that chopper is noisy and windy. Very cool video.

  • my dad does the same thing $75 an hrs

  • what exactly is he doing with the wand?

  • Amazing and beautifully still.

Just don't take a piss... now that would bring you down to earth!!!

    Martin Sheen narrates?

  • The continuous arcing tells me there "is" a potential somewhere. But how? I have a good understanding of electricity, but I'm puzzled by this. Is it the rotor wash causing a constant static charge? Is the chopper being a conductor to the moisture in the air? If it's like a bird on a wire, Where's all the arcing trying to go? Could some1 answer this 4 me?

  • Good job ! Bravo !

  • robbie 77300 dose not know anything.prob couldnt be a ground man for lineman.

  • hey robbie7730 there are no transformers on a transmission line and there is no such thing as output terminals.why dont you talk about something you have a clue about. until then go back to your office and dream of going were the eagles dare to soar. I bet you wouldnt make it 20 ft before you cried, let alone handle that much power.think next time you talk about someones trade and say its "no big deal"!

  • That is insane. Lets just say I were to do that... If I shit my pants would that become a conductor? Much respect to the people who do this for a living.

  • @AmAn171 only if it came in contact with the ground(while still in contact with you) or the other wires

  • How do you get into this field of work?

Do you need a background in physics or engineering...

I am curious if I have what it takes to do this.

  • I just watched a program on this two days ago, they have an extremely dangerous job. The son of a pilot friend does this kind of work. drh

  • "There's only three things I've ever been afraid of: electricity, heights, and women. And I'm married too."

  • Would'nt mind getting this job live in the uk if you could give me any advice or pointers it would be very welcome , thx

  • would be nice to get paid for going to work in a helicopter every day and working on 400kV live lol

  • Like the place,

  • that looks like fun, haveing half a million volts running across your balls every day :D

  • thats fucking insane!

  • awsome.

    question:

do u believe that electric humans are real?

go to google vids and type electric human and click the 1 that says 'my shocking story...' with the mans face on it

  • The electric human if its the one where he touches high voltage tv transformers and arcs from finger to block of wood on the ground, that would work for anyone, he was standing on a plastic milk crate to insulate from ground and the arc was from finger to block of wood, while it looks amazing, there is tiny current flow because of high impedence of wood etc. Most would`t attempt it but its nothing miraculous

  • nothing miraculous about that electric human fella, he is never directly connected from the high voltage terminal to earth or other pole of the high voltage transformer in tv`s etc. Always has high resistance between himself and ground - ie wood blocks, plastic milk crate etc

  • No electric human is nothing miraculous, anyone can do the stuff he does, most would never try though. It is dangerous because if he touches directly the 2 output terminals on high volt transformer he would be in trouble, but he never does

  • the men hanging there are really brave, not everyone would be so brave like them

  • I wanna start doing this tomorrow

  • very cool!

  • Doesnt matter how tough someone is in the world...

They dont have the balls that it takes to do this job! lol

  • he is walking on 2 wires of the same phase, and his suite offers more resistence then the conductor...so he doesn't get killed!

  • Same phase bit is true, but suit resistance has no bearing really, and in fact the suit is low resistance to help prevent static running over the skin, it has steel wiring threaded through it. The 2 main cables are electrically only 1 cable, so would`t matter even if put a spanner across them.

  • What an absolutely stunning video, is there an online copy of the original programme?

  • What I'm still trying to figure out is how those guys pressure wash the insulators from a truck on the ground and don't get zapped.

  • thats fascinating, it's amazing how he can just crawl across those lines, and how skilled those pilots are

  • I've been watching this once a day for quite some days...

  • I LOVE this music in this video! This whole short is really well done.

  • the suit is made out of metal threads when they touch the cables with the metal pole they become the same voltage

  • very cool feature. Good composition and cinematography.... n all that stuff. : D

  • I'm going to watch this again for the 5th time...I really love this! Great Job on all fronts!

  • This is absolutely amazing!

  • That looks kinda fun actually.

  • I know it's real but it looks like CGI

  • elctricity hights and women. lol
