The cutting action doesn't sound too great. There is a lot of vibration from what I could hear, could be why it took so long to cut. I think it's half the reason why they eventually put dampers on the saw arm, the other to raise the blade on the return stroke. Not bad for the 40's though

Nice old tool. just oil the chain and bearings and sliding surfaces and it will last another 40 years :)
