I am always touched when my message from the heart reaches the hearts of others. I made this video so that I can inspire youth and remind the adults of the Assyrin nation that we have a responsibility in always continuing to express to the world who we are and where we are from. I grew up in Germany and moved to Canada when I was ten, so I have been influenced by the German culture as well.
Let me take this opportunity to tell you ,on my mother's behalf, how proud she is of you and you managed to make her cry but these were tears of joy. Now she sees that more assyrian children and young adults in foreign countries are still patriotic and they will never forget who they really are.
I agree with you that our nation will never cease to exist, since you and me and others like us have had the opportunity to be born in or be brought to democratic countries that allow us to openly say who we are and to practise the religion without fearing for our lives.
father is german and my mother is ormejnetela, assyrian from Iran.
Thanks to my mother, I have always been close to my assyrian culture, like yourself.
As a half german i am not worried about losing my german identity as you very well know that the german nation has an established country and language .
@Merbenza my cousin is half German and Assyrian. My other cousin is actually marrying a German guy as well. The cousin who is German and Assyrian her father is German. It's actually the best mix to be honest! Keep up the good work on loving your heritage. Be it both German and Assyrian. My cousins do a great job!
Dear Abbey. Your essay has touched my heart and in future it will have an impact on many Assyrians out there. My name is Mercedes. I was born in South africa. Due to my father's work, my family and I tended to travel back and forth to Germany and south africa almost without having any contacts with Assyrians. By the way, my father is German and my ther is orm
Auf dieses Video antworten... Our concern is to preserve assyrian culture and identity. I have married an assyrian, and as my mother made it her duty to inform me about who we are , I am now performing my duty in teaching my two sons about the language and culture and "what it means to be an assyrian " :)
