I auditioned yesterday for blousey.... the song went so bad.. why, why,why is it so high??! I asked my teacher if i could lower it like Jessie J did and he said no! Omg, hate it
My class all had to audition but we werent alloweed to audition for a certain part..... we had to sing a song and read a poem ..... and i was given Blousey! We will be working on the play for the next few months to perform the end of January.
I wanted Fat Sam but I got Olivia (Oscar) de Velt (you know, the one Blousey auditions for before Fat Sam's- the scene where the girl sings really high and really bad.) One of my friends is Blousey and she's a really amazing singer. And another girl I'm friends with is Tallulah and she's awesome at singing. My Blousey friend (has the same name as me) is always really nice so I guess she deserved the part because she's lovely. There were a large amount auditioning for Blousey, Tallulah and Bugsy!
I auditioned for this yesterday, with the chorus of this song. Totally unprepared. Singing and acting went well. When they asked me to dance in a group with a 5 year old it looked like I was molesting it.
@abigailstyle1 haha ohh my(: lol I made it(: so hopefully I'll be able to put a few videos from my school's performance of it. and btw: paperboy isnt THAT bad...(;
im blousy in my school production too, and im really nervous about singing this song =/ im scared that on the night i will be flat because its very high...
I saw this play last year on my twin brothers school. Then I saw the movie this evening... it' lovely. I want my kids to watch that kind of movies once as well.
im auditioning for the school play of bugsy malone. i really want to play blousey because i love singing, but i cant act!!! oh and i have to do an american accent for my audition! im up against 2 people that go to acting places n there really good!!
All songs were written, produced and arranged by Paul Williams. Paul and Archie Hahn sang the male parts; the female songs were dubbed by Liberty Williams and Julie McWirder.
Last year for my leavers performance i was Knuckles :L and i was also one of the down and outs xD it was great! my friend said i could sing this song well but she got that part because i didnt ordition but tbh i didnt think i was good but she couldnt sing it and so she had to do a key lower.
Im auditioning for Bugsy Malone tomorrow (my school play). I really want to get Blousy so I'm using this song but I'v only had one night to practice since I had never seen it before! I need all the luck I can get "/
Okay for all of you... you don't Have to get the high notes the way the music shows. Just start the song on a lower not that you feel comfortable with so you sound like YOU. There is no point trying to copy anyone's voice to get the part, even if you try really hard you won't sound good. So get the song in the pitch you can sing in or you could change the high notes to lower ones, make it more interesting.
best thing to do is be confident as sing as loud as possible, it doesn't really matter about quality of the note as long as everyone can hear and it's powerful. show them you can act then the singing will come later ;) good luck
personally i think this is bad advice. as a singer myself i've been trained not to force anything. Just let the high notes come naturally, and if you can't quite reach them warm up a lot and keep practicing. If you force the notes some quite discusting stuff happens that i'm not gonna go into detail about, but basically in etreames you can't sing or even talk anymore.
Auditioning for this part in our play really soon and need some help with the high notws, I can hit them and it sounds pretty nice put a little scratchy in the microphone. Any advice on how to make it a little more clear?
@alexishere21 i just hd some singing lessons so i no how 2 reach those high notes. u really hv 2 open the back of ur throat and ur mouth. do u breath deeply when u sing? good thing 2 do is not breath with ur chest breath with ur tummy. i know tht sounds odd bt its ur tummy muscles tht actually help u. Hope tht helps :)
Whoever is trying to sing this tear-jerking classic sounds like a Horrible HOT MESS! and needs to be slapped in the face! Listen to Mel Torme's haunting rendition of this song (you'll need 10 boxes Kleenex) after you experience his superior pharasing, moaning, and pleading in this timeless gem .
Bravo Paul Williams!!! One of my favorite producer/arranger, he did so much great work throughout the 70's. Also check out Sylvia's Sunday here on Youtube, there's a slight resemblance to "Ordinary Fool".
for my audition they made me sing this :|!!! omg i totally messed it up lol, and same with the dance audition! but i was hoping for Fat Sam :D and did good in the acting part of the audition lol! did the actress of blousey sing this herself?
The actress who played Blousey did not sing this. None of the actors sang their songs. All the songs were recorded by adults! Awesome film. When it came out in the cinema my dad who was about 15 dressed up in a gangsta style pin stripe suit like bugsy and got in for free lol. Now my kids enjoy watching it and i hope their kids will too.
@TheJellybug, Erm yes, of course darling, thats why they made it like that, so we could use our imaginations but I was actually replying to someone who was asking if she really sang the song!! LMAO XD
Rasmatas, the pianoguy, sang himself ;) But the rest pretty much just pretended singing. All but the "down and out" was well-played tho, looked as if they sang :P

Dont sing from the throat, if possible try to forn the note with your toung and lifting the roof of your mouth.
It takes some practice but you will get it in the end.
