"ultimately BORING" ! ! ! ! !!!!!! BLASPHEMY ! 2001 A Space Odyssey is perfection. The scenes of near-future space travel were worth it all by themselves. The navigation displays used were real models of possible future NAV screens. The ones we got now are pretty close to 2001. "Boring"? The original is perfect as is. Modern movies have WAY too much CGI. If you were bored, then you didn't get it. You were in the wrong theater.
the great thing about 2001 is that those of us who appreciate the film get to laugh and feel sympathy for the sub-chimpanzee loser morons who don't "get" it and think its boring !!!
Criticisms are levelled here at Kubrick and Clarke by someone who prefers drama to the majestic vistas of space which were captured in the film. Obviously a very narrow-minded critic.
That was horrible. There is a reason Kubrick did not lay any music to that sequence. He wanted that scene to invoke the emotionless and cold-bloodedness of HALs act. You've just turned it to another Jerry Bruckhiemer run of the mill action scene. Kubrick would spin in his grave.
yeah man that was needed. i understand the artistic reason why they chose to leave the music out, and it was ok, but still yaknow sometimes you can go over the top with that sometimes. music really made it feel like they were in a emence amount of danger. goes to show mow much a good music score can make the difference in a movie.
When I was forced to watch this in film studies three years ago I lost the will to live. Food had no taste, flowers had no scent and a childs laugh stirred no emotion in me.
Now, having seen this, I can hopefully begin the long road to recovery.

True! But, I also did a lot of editing to make the pace quicker.

Oh yeah i just noticed i watched the original and realised.
You should make an entirely new version of the whole movie! Would love to see that!
Also what score did you use here?
ryanaircaughtnapping 3 years ago

Also, I'd like to re-edit and popcornify it someday!
