I am totally awake during my attacks!!! i amNOT alseep! i have timed the attacks some have lasted up to ten minutes!!! i know about the vibrating noise and sensation. i also have levatated which totally f'ed me up! too many ppl worldwide describe the same thing? how is that possible? how can we all see/feel the same things? I KNOW ITS EVIL. its ruining my life and idk what to do! its terrifying and i cannot yell for help, move etc. yet I am wide awake..not like others who fall asleep and it happ
...It sucks. I get one where I am attacked by an aparition that makes my body vibrate. I try hitting it and my hand stops. It leeps back and forth at my face. It's just utterely terrifying. I feel like I am going to die of a heart attack every time.
I hate this.. happens so often.. right after falling asleep I wake up and see weird patterns on the walls.. I'm perfectly aware that I'm awake and know that what I'm seeing is just my brain screwing with me..
Kinda weird that I rarely get these during weekends.. didn't get them as a child either..
This always happens to me. When I'm about to fall asleep, I will always see a really hot naked woman or giant things on my wall. I'm totally aware during the whole occurrence though, but I know it's not real. I don't know what happens after that though. After that, I sleep like a baby.
Before it happens you already know its going to happen. You get this floating sensation, which in my opinion feels sooo good that i can't pull away from the trance, although once i'm deep enough in the sleep its so torturing in my dream that i attempt waking myself up. Then i start getting hallucinations and when i wake up, i wake up in sweat checking if the whole thing was real. its hard to even fall back asleep because the trance feels so good
Everyone has hypnogogic activity(Everynight)! Nightmares are scary but hypnogogia is normal- its not a disorder or anything like that, its not something you start getting randomly in ur life- u can notice it happening however (like realise when its going on), but yeah dont act like its something to be feared because its natural (PEOPLE BELOW). And whoever said I dont think its hallucination. It is scientifically- dreams are caused by a release of DMT/Pineal Gland Activity. AKA 3rd eye
hypnogogia is a disorder. we all pass through this state but some people get stuck there. hypnogogic and hypnopopic states can be very scary for some people. your mind is awake but your body is paralyzed. -you think that you're moving though. you believe that you're walking around, flying, vibrating.....
it is not random, that is for sure. i've had it since i was a child.
they say for the people who have it, it happens more in times of great mental stress.
Hypnogogic activity again- isn't a disorder. It is natural and occurs for everyone every night.
Also paralysis is an everynight occurence
but like u said waking up and still experiencing sleep paralysis is a disorder, however Hypnogogia and sleep paralysis aren't the same thing! I love how people watch a video or two and think they are have their PHD in it!
Get ur facts strait before you tell me I'm incorrect.
I study sleep/dreams everyday, and while I'm asleep, so trust me "The Oneironaut:.
it is a horrible feeling. I've started to get it this last year, and my younger sister used to have these when she was in middle school. She wouldn't even talk about it she was so scared.
I don't agree that they are 'hallucinations'..I think that we access different levels of relaity and alternate realms in the sleep state and the hypnagogic one is very unique and not pathological in orientation but metaphysical in origin.
I just recently bought your book :D it rocks so much !! Thank you a ton for having it written and published ! Your humor so makes it totally awesome to read :D

I recently started to experience this; about two years ago. It's so strange...the dull fear, the hallucinations, the sensations. Very strange.
