  • @Vileguy56 whats better than an ork pirate? an ork ninja!

  • Fucktards, the original tyranids have NOTHING in common with Alien in Alien the movie. Just in size and shit it does not fit.

  • They are a nomadic alien race comprising many genetically engineered forms created from harvested bio-mass. They are known as the "Great Devourer" and also "Shadow In The Warp" (after the effect of their hive mind on FTL travel and communications) and pose a severe threat to the Imperium.[1] They seek to consume all in their path, draining all planets of every resource and converting all living and some non-living material into Tyranid biomass.

  • you suck man, the movie Alien and the tyrannids are all but the same

  • You are a Pirate, WAAAAAAGH!!!!

  • first of all, Space Marines became popular through Warhammer 40k the battle game in 1987, so yeah, starcraft IS a copy of warhammer 40k. And were do you think they took the Protoss concept AND Zerg: Tyrannids and Eldar. Thank you very much people. Video Game geeks need to gain more knowledge about what inspired the games coming out since 1990.

  • @UnbeingBand

    "Zerg: Tyrannid"

Starship Troopers and its Bugs. Alien was based on that and warhammer was based on Alien because it was a runaway hit in the eighties.

"Video Game geeks need to gain more knowledge about what inspired the games coming out since 1990."

    Take your own advice.

  • Not just a pirate: an ork pirate! How cool is that...

  • just for everyones info Warhammer has been around for a long ass fucking time a lot longer then most think weird how Warhammer copied starcraft in 1987 when starcraft didnt come out till around 1998... oh wait Blizzard now has a time machine? If you think warhammer is a sci-fi grandfather don't because its not however it did not copy SC its the other way around.....

  • XD giant green ork space pirates. I'm on board :)

  • I like WH40K universe more because it has more variety, where starcraft is what, 3 races?

  • Sid Meiers' Freebooters!

  • DA WAAAAGGGHHHH!!!!! KOMANDS I KICK ALL YOU GROTS IN DA JIBBLEEEEZZZZZZZZ!!! Ya GITZ!!!!

  • @DatsVatSheSaid Come orc scum, I will remove that head from your shoulders and drink the blood from your skull. The chaos legions do not allow such defiance to go unpunished.

  • @Detsnirg Oi!!!! uz Spiky humies kudnt even survive the waaaagggghhhhh!!!!!!!

  • I like warhammer 40k and SC2 they are both fun :)

  • i couldn't figure out if i was high or you were but that was pretty awesome!

  • Kind of random... are Starcraft and Warcraft connected in the same universe? Because GW vaugely connected WH Fantasy and WH 40k through saying that the Orks and Chaos in both are the same, but ones in 40k have better access to tech

  • @0wninwhilez0nin No, they arent.

  • @Mjollnir1990 Thanks

  • WHere did you find this SONG...MUST POST FAAAAACEEEBOOOOK

  • Starcraft vs Dawn of War? Fuck that, I love both and see no reason in choosing one.

  • This could have been done soooo much better.... C-

  • @MrDanielkf I agree with what you said Starcraft and Warhammer are 2 games that are awesome no doubt but theirs always gonna be someone who thinks my stick is pointyer than yours or my rifle shoots farther its gonna be a constant.

  • 4 people are not Ork pirates

  • @Rimfire83

  • @cncinwow Actually they sound sort of Jamacan.

    OK then, jamaican it is~

  • So wrong yet so right.

  • Waaagh waaagh snivelin squig bein a ork iz da bestist fing , do wut youz want cuz ork iz green. you are a Ork

  • @MrDanielkf

well, just to be technical, Warhammer was largely based on Michael Moorcock's Elric of Melniboné novels (with token Lord of the Rings elements)

Everything in 40K that wasn't carried over from fantasy was taken from Frank Herbert's Dune (with bits of Star Wars, Starship Troopers and Aliens)

  • The Damn Song is From Lazy Town

  • HERESY!!

  • And almost everything took off of Lord of the Rings in one way or another. All the fantasy stuff of course.

  • For all this starcraft vs warhammer 40k nonsense. I'm going to point something out. Starcraft 1 started as a warhammer 40k game.Games Workshop removed its publishing rights, and the game was uncompleted. Blizzard took the uncompleted game and finished it, within copyright. That is the reason the models and concepts can be so similar. Its Games workshop's fault they lost out on what starcraft became. But its a good thing Blizzard picked up the game and finished it. I really don't care sc2 vs w40

  • @xNuahs That is very much possible, but wasn't that the case of Warcraft instead of Starcraft? I wouldn't be surprised if it was both. At any rate, I love all three franchises personally.

  • @Haasth22

Yeah it was Warcraft that where going to be a Warhammer Fantasy game, Starcraft became just a pure rip off of Wh40k.

  • @Haasth22

What I heard with warcraft was that Blizzard came to GW for rights to make a warhammer battle fantasy game, which GW refused from some stupid reason, but Blizzard adjusted the game to avoid copyrights.

  • @Haasth22 Well, but Starcraft is Warhammer 40K for 12-year old, fat nerd brats or koreans : (

  • @benutzer29915022 why koreans?

  • @bladiumdragon It´s because they are communists!

  • @benutzer29915022

    have you played SC1 ?

  • @Haasth22 Say what? An explaination that didnt result in an arguement and foul language? What is happening to america. Lol, glad to see there are still civil people left on this earth.

  • @Haasth22 It was, Blizzard was working on both games at the same time.

  • @Haasth22 your both close warhammer and warhammer 40k were being created but as a book series in the late 70's early 80's. Games workshop began to make the games but let go of some of the writers who didn't want a "forboding" type of storyline and was picked up by the newly formed blizzard company in the early 1990's I believe.

  • @Haasth22 Either way you look at it..The WoW idiots are always saying ( OMFG WoW A WoW CLONE! look! you can attack Omg you have skills to use!" Where as WoW is a complet copy from all the games before hand?

anyway to the point, What Nyahs says is true but i'll point out that The similarties between Warcraft and Warhammer are vastly Diffrent from 40k and SC. 40k and SC are so much alike.. But Both are subjects to only Being here because of the imfamous Alien movies.

  • @TheHeartlessLust How is 40k and SC so much alike? Where do I see overzealous battle priests in Starcraft, or psyker inquisitors, or daemons and orks and elves and zombie robots and power fists? The only things that are truly similar are the Zerg-Tyranids and basic sci-fi elements that are pretty much universal. They're both great in their own ways... only 40k's lore is far, far, far greater in my eyes. SC can remain the best RTS though.

  • @Tweeterfist .. Well lets see Both verses have Humans who where power armor, The fact that Protoss has a unit called fire prisim....Zerg and Nids... Protoss act just like the Alotic Eldar Craft world.... I understand that there is universal things but its just a little similar. 40k is very rich with its lore and I love it..and I like Dawn of war over star craft...

  • @TheHeartlessLust SC ''power armor'' and 40k gear aren't even similar. 40k's is insanely buck with a genetically modified human wearing it, whereas SC's is just armor with some prisoner re-programmed wearing it. Everything else is more truly just universal. The humans in SC are nothing like the Imperium of Man and the whole setting is much different imo. I really like Dawn of War too, Im better at it and enjoy it more, I just see SC as a better game. Can't wait for DoW 3 though!

  • And The creaters of the Tyranids even said the race is based of the Aliens.. and since we all know Zerg came from the idea of Tyranids both races derive from such. Also Aliens is the first to ever have (Space marines). and Both Eldar and Protoss can be linked to The Predators( Aside from Warp powers and Void powers.)

  • @Haasth22 it was warcraft

  • @xNuahs I'm pretty sure this is just a rumor, I've been looking for confirmation on this but I've never found any. The original Starcraft was initially a game with 100% air combat, just flying around spaceships.. It really had no similarities to the 40k world.

  • @zammeee No, SC1 is like SC2, there was armor, infantry, medics, etc. The thing is by late-game everyone had foregone using simply Marines and was using Battlecruisers

  • @SpartanSlayer Then I don't think you're aware of how the pre-alpha design of Starcraft looked like. There was no ground units or ground structures. It used the WC2 engine and only had spaceships in different forms.

  • @zammeee Ah, I misunderstood your question then. When you said initially I imagined you meant the release, or even alpha at the earliest. Didn't know you meant pre-alpha, in which case yes: with the exception of the buildings and resources the game was completely air-centric.

  • @xNuahs That was Warcraft, not Starcraft. At least try to verify your information before acting on it =/

  • @xNuahs

It was Warcraft that was to be a Warhammer title. Youz need ta gets dat tinkin' right ye posh humie!

  • @xNuahs

Why did think it was a good idea to cut Blizzard from the rights after their success with warcraft?

  • @xNuahs

"insider info" aside, SC resembles Starship Troopers ( novel ) more, while WH40K started out with a Dune vibe, then became more diverse as more factions were added.

I agree it's a good thing SC was completed :)

( SC2 is even more refined in terms of gameplay, but its backstory has become shallow. I wonder if Blizzard has indeed run out of original ideas ... :/ )

  • @xNuahs that is not exactly true. What you said aplys to warcraft/warhammer. Starcraft was made as an additional insult, because Blizzard realized they hadnt have to fear copyrightlawsuits. But this sounds more evil then it actually was.

  • @xNuahs well I damm well do Bliz should have given GW starcraft because it was not their idea.

  • @xNuahs

Links or it never happened. Too many pricks bandy this explanation around like it's true yet no one cites a magazine article or press release. So instead of being credible, this just becomes another "Warhammer 40k Invented sci-fi" statement that just reinforces why 40k fanboys suck as much as they do. You want to see where Starcraft REALLY came from? Read Starship Troopers, published in 1951. Three pages in we read the first description of "Astartes" power armor EVER.

  • @commiedeer that is childish, having no proof at hand doesn't mean it didn't happen

  • @commiedeer Nah thats not where starcraft got their ideas starship troopers is where warhammer got the idea for IG and possibly nids. Also the alien movies might of been a big influence on the look of the nids. I dont care which came first and I dont see why anyone does, things influence other things all the time and sometimes for the better. I only get pissed when people who dont know what there talking about say DoW copied SC. Its other way around but who cares SC is still a sucessful game.

  • @commiedeer Nah man you need to do some research dude Nuah is mainly right not only that but the warhammer idea was out there way longer the SC and don't give everyone the oh no it wasn't SC was out a lot longer i played it...I know your not that stupid to think Warhammer started as a video game but none the less DoW didn't invent much but did pave the road for lots that has happened and to come im sure. not saying SC is bad tho I play both games.

  • @xNuahs Terrans - Space Marines obviously. Zerg - totally based on the Tyranids. But who are the Protoss supposed to have been? The Eldar? That must have been one of the bigger changes Blizzard did.

  • @Solarchos no it was the tau

  • @xNuahs

"I'm going to point something out. Starcraft 1 started as a warhammer 40k game"

No it didnt. Its just an urban legend and the same urban legend spread around warcraft and diablo too.

  • @xNuahs Except none of that is true. Never has been. It's an urban myth spread about by forumite ignorance. You will never find a single credible source that verifies this. The disputed claim is that Warcraft: Orcs vs. Humans was a project that Blizz got denied IP rights from GW for. Again, like the Starcraft claim there is no verifiable proof. No employee of either company has ever stated this. The closest you will find is GW claiming that Blizzard likes their setting so much, they copy it.

  • @xNuahs The interesting part about this urban legend, is that it has been around long before Starcraft or Warcraft 2. Everyone claiming some faux IP deal gone bad between Games Workshop and Blizzard. The only part that -is- true, is that some of the original Blizzard developers were fans of the tabletop games. It inspired them in their designs and concepts for the RTSs.

  • Seriously, how do orks look ANYTHING like protoss or zerg or terran??

  • Kay guys, calm down. All I said was it looked like Starcraft. I am just saying what I saw in this video. No need to go historic on my ass.

  • So much win.

  • awshum

  • This like starcraft lol.

  • @sukasa3399 You probably wouldn't want to start that Starcraft vs. Warhammer 40.000 debate. :p That said, the games are quite radically different.

  • YOU ARE A PIRATE

  • @Haasth22 :P Warhammer 40k is awesome, DoW2, not so much before Retribution. THQ shits on us Warhammer fans lately

  • @Haasth22 Agreed, those flame wars never end well.

  • @sukasa3399 Its nothing like starcraft infact anyone who has played both and thought they were the same is mentally retarted.

  • Comment removed

  • @sukasa3399 Starcraft copied off of Warhammer 40,000... To put it bluntly, WH40k was a true board game that was released in the 80s, and not that mouse trap bs kind of board game. You know those games played with those badass looking painted miniatures, dice, stats and the such? Yeah, that was Warhammer 40k. Blizzard ripped off Imperium of Man and the Eldar, as well as countless other ideas and characters to make Starcraft.

Yes, it pisses me off when people think that WH40k is like Starcraft.

  • @MSZSNeoBahamut19 I hear you, it's just like when people say that Blizzard invented mmorpg's.

  • I could so see an Ork freebooterz band singing this in broken cockney English while basing the 'eads of some punie gitz.

    WAAAAAAGH!!!!!!!

  • Reminds me of criken...

  • @lmadia93 I'm not sure who or what Criken is, I'm afraid. :p

  • This game is like a remake of Company of Heroes.

  • @sofarsogood9 I tend to see if this way.. Relic made Dawn of War (1), then wanted something smaller scale and made Company of Heroes. Then wanted even smaller scale, more squad-based combat without the base building and made Dawn of War 2. All three good in their own aspects, yet all very different. Personally I'd LOVE an actual Company of Heroes remake set in the Dawn of War setting. It was a nice in-between.

  • @Haasth22 I actually still enjoy the original Dawn of War series (up to DK) because of the massed warfare aspect and massed vehicles. When i heard Relic was making Dow2 with CoH aspects, i was ecstatic. I was dissapointed in the end when it was focused more on squad battles then economy managing and teching up with buildings. Hopefully IG and the new units would help things.

  • @romanlegions I know what you mean, and in many ways I do agree. I would have likely enjoyed a Dawn of War 2 more true to the original as well. Regardless, I still think this is a solid game. I hadn't played it for quite a while due to the poor matchmaking which they changed now. Imperial Guard does indeed also give a bit more of a tactical feel to things with their more defensive oriented gameplay (Calling in bunkers, turrets etc). Which definitely feels better.

  • @Haasth22 Yeah, and i hope the new units for other races would be able to counter the new IG abilities. Redeemer for infantry flushing and Battle wagons for the Baneblades. If they make IG too over powered, there would be a substantial shift in IG players. I would also love if they give all the other players their own in-game indirect firing weapons. Whirlwinds, defilers, biovores etc

  • @romanlegions That's one of the reasons I fell in love (again) with IG in Retribution, their Manticore (So indirect firing weapon). It is so lovely, it almost makes up for the lack of basilisk unit. So far, from my experience, Imperial Guard is quite balanced. They got pretty good early presence and late game presence, in between they seem to lack something akin to a walker (Dreadnought, etc) but that's fine imo. Just can't for the life of me defeat Tyranids. :p

  • @Haasth22 I really don't get why they put down the Manticore, i mean, it is a relatively new vehicle in TT, but wouldn't it fit better if it was a Basilisk or Griffon mortar carrier. Whats the new unit for Nids again?

  • @romanlegions Well, it is a modification of the Chimera which is also in the game. So perhaps that's why, to make it more like eachother. Perhaps the campaign will shed some light on their choice. A Basilisk would probably not have fit in that well anyway, considering the maps aren't that big. The Lord General can actually cal in off-map Basilisk strikes. New unit for the Tyranids is the Swarmlord.

  • @Haasth22 Basilisk is also a Chimera mod, and i remembered that Manticores have longer range than Basilisk, not to mention the huge Deathstrike missile.

So the Swarmlord is a new Tyrant or akin to?

  • @romanlegions Ah, you're right about that yeah. Forgot that the Basilisk was also a Chimera mod.. probably because it looks way better. :p Well, I honestly wouldn't know why they would go with the Manticore, perhaps Relic is biased and prefers missiles? As for the Swarmlord, well technically it should be pretty much the Hive Lord among the Hive Lords, but right now it's pretty much their 'ultimate' unit (Baneblade, Battlewagon, Landraider, Avatar of Khaine, Great Unclean One). Not a commander.

  • @romanlegions Is the Freeboterz and Autarch commanders?

  • @romanlegions As far as I know the Freebooterz are campaign-only and the Autarch is a call-in ability for every Eldar commander. The Autarch is quite jumpy I must say.

  • @Haasth22 I actually found a mod that allows you to use the freebooter commander in multiplayer

    (other cant see him)

  • @TheScreamingGoblin That sounds pretty neat, that works for the beta?

  • @Haasth22 Yeah and there is also other mods that give the commisar a hat and cigar, gives the SM commander a helm or a top hat.

Ill send you a pm with the link (maybe you can make a vid to show it to other people because im too lazy xD)

  • yay first comment............. no just joking but will u be playing thr this game

  • @mrbrad455 I may be, I was playing during Dawn of War 2 release but stopped during Chaos Rising. I'm liking Retribution so far, so it is looking likely.
