  • thats a woter not oil

  • if i put neons or LED's in the oil, they works?

  • We need alternative energy, including in the field of information.

  • Australian engineering for the win

  • is that dry ice in there? wtf?

  • nice man :O

  • Hmm I wonder if the electronics would degrade after a long period submerged

  • Hi Obzelite

Can you please specify which mineral oil have you used? (Brand, or from where)

I am in UK and it seems to be pretty hard to get one over here in bigger quantity.

    Any help much appreciated

  • what the F*@k

  • over kill.

  • do you think a p4 can heat it up enough that you can cook french fries?

  • u didnt buy food to cook in the mineral oil???

  • LOL mineral oil is A MILD LAXATIVE. If you cook food in there...well you can guess the rest...LMFAO!!! Heheee

  • Could u use a powerless aquarium pump (it consists of long tube and a larger tube attachment) on this? to suck up the oil and let the heat dissipate while it's in the tube?

  • lol

  • cool

  • possible, dust and other crap will collect in it like a normal pc collects crap.

if you use vegetable oil then you will also get other stuff growing in.

  • thanks!

  • will you ever have to change the oil ever?

  • With mineral oil it should stay clean if you put a cover on it. veg oil goes manky :)

  • thanks!

  • Two questions: How cold is it without the dry ice ice? And the second question is: Goes the dry ice away or stay it their forever?

  • it will evaporate

  • its incredible, we need more details man!!!!

how it works... the pump etc...

  • at that temperature the thermal motion inside the ICs isnt what it was designed for. long story short ---> wont work as intended.

    still freaking cool though

  • Really cool lol

  • i never thought about CO2... thats insane...

as for it conducting electricity, its simple chemistry... H20 (in any state) conducts electricity because of ion transfer under charge and the imbalance of ions between the atoms. CO2 does not conduct electricity due to the same properties.

CO2 is what you find in many fire extinguishers rated for use on electrical fires, for what its worth.

  • can you make another vid explaing how this works? i plan on doing somthing like this my self and wanted to be a little more informed on how this work.......

  • cooling

  • Okay, I feel stupid for asking this but...why would you do that?

  • dry ice. its just co2

  • isnt the ice cunducting?

  • one of those mini peltier fridges. its the red thing underneath.

the oil runs out of the perspex box into the fridge and is then pumped back in.

the -61 was achieved by pouring in dry ice.

that's the mound of white that surrounds the cpu cooler

  • Mould!! At -61 degrees? How do you keep the temperature so low?

  • nice Nice NICE!! I Simply Have to do this. lol Only, with "Clear" Oil. lol

  • mineral oil, vegetable oil is yellow in colour and not really a good idea because stuff like mold can grow in it. Mineral oil will stay clear.

  • so what kind of oil are u using?

areyou refrigerating the oil?, i'd like to start making experiments, but until now i know that you can use vegetable oil, but i wanted to search for other kinds of non resistive oils to create my Rigg, thx m8, cool rigg by the way
