I just heard this song the other day & I must say that I'm surprised. Never heard a song quite like this one. It's an amazing song. It makes me a little teary because somehow, I feel I can relate to this song.
@MarriedOnSunday And it will make you even more teary to know that Mia was raped and murdered. :( At least they finally caught the guy. A loong time later. Thank God for DNA testing.
The only thing i can tell myself when it comes to Mia's Death is that she has inspired thousands of womben to protect themselves, through the organizations that came after her and those who were inspired.
Always enjoyed seeing The Gits live at the Off Ramp or Croc.. Has anyone posted any songs from their january 1992 apperance on seattle public access show Bongo
Corral ? I recorded the broadcast, it was strange in that the show was broadcast in color but the show would playback in black and white. This was unique only ti the bongo corral shows. I was wondering if anybody has it in color.
All you assholes with no colons, and no hearts, are you deaf and blind? You should be pulling your hair out, puting ash on your faces and wailing, and crying, and nashing your teeth! What the hell! This was no average murder. This was genocide! This kiled us all. There is no "come back" from this.
to bad another mexican american who made great music and had a beautiful voice had to get murdered she was a real riot girl there ant music like this anymore
Check out The Gits documentary about the band, the music, Mia Zapata and the horrible tragedy. It's on Netflix and free on the internet at Snag Films.
i never heard of the gits or mia zapata before; a guitar player i'm going to audition for mentiened them to me. out of curiosity, i checked them & her out on youtube. what a gift. reminds me of the jaco pastorius tragedy. i don't know you, mia, but i miss you.
I only learned the story of Mia Zapata and The Gits about a year or two ago. She had a great voice and I believe The Gits would've gone far if not for her murder.
this fucking song rocks! how did i miss it?

The song is likeable and appreciable, but I'm not much of a punk rock person, so it wasn't my style very much. RIP Mia Zapata.
