thanks again dave for the info. bought the STM2 in sapphire and still waiting for it to arrive but had no idea who sam totman was but the sound was what sold me along with the unique shape... also beautiful in white ... can't wait to get my hands on it already! not really a DragonForce fan but the Evolution pìckups played by Steve Vai are a super plus on this guitar... 1 volume control and 1 switch is all I need...

@samfilmcolab The ibanez he is playing right now is A LOT more than 700-800 bucks. and most regular icemen dont cost half that price. I just bought an IC400 for 340 bucks. You can usually find IC300's and IC400's for anywhere between 300-400 bucks (:

I own an81 iceman. it's all black with the cool 3/3 headstock, 2 volume and 1 tone. It has a dimarzio super distortion humbucker in the bridge. It sounds and looks and feels beautiful. the only flaw is it has a blot on neck

downtunings for pussies. If you cant do it in standard, dont do it. I like some bands that do downtunings, but its just annoying. Nah, Im just pissed cuz I cant downtune well xD but seriously, there are some drops so low its unecessary, just get a baritone or a fucking bass.

drop C is the lowest it should go. but once you get the hang of it you can drop and tune it back to standard in like 2 seconds. practice makes perfect

@drummerdudeperson I know this is really late but you can pick up an iceman sam totman signature. its called the STM2 which is in sapphire blue but you can get it white which is the STM1. Its an Iceman with an Edge III tremolo.

i have an iceman icx220dx made in 2005. i love the tone put out by this guitar. but i wouldnt exactly recommend this guitar to a beginner. it makes alot of noise if you dont know how to control the guitar.

@billberends - I don't think the Line 6 stuff sounds that bad. You must be a tube purist. There are some people who've actually spent time with their Line 6 gear and have gotten some pretty wicked tones.

Different strokes for different folks. Not everyone can have massive stacks at their home/apartment and hope that the cops don't show up at the door for noise violations. Line 6 caters to those people and I think they do a great job at it.
