...and though it is 5 years ago today that the world lost Michael, this clip has been and is likely to remain a favorite of mine, the one that best accompanies me when drifting and chasing the concept of the Sublime. The planet misses you, Mike!
This is an amzaing lyrical video. It is all the more poignant given the fact we have lost Michael. I just have one question, who was the idiot that is tone deaf and dislikes it..? My good ness this is a wonderful song. Thanks
Everytime I listen to this wonderful piece I got goosebumps and tears in eyes at the same time. Have any of You heard ever more haunting and beautyful sax tone? Trane said, that the best tone had Stan Getz, but He never heard Michael's tone :)
I really love this song and Michael Brecker... I think, no one can play sax like him.. anyway, I need to practice his technic.. Who has the book of Michael brecker..? thank you
Songs like this remind me why I listen to jazz..the sublime textures that these artists create takes me to another place....Simply beautiful..Randy , Mike andDdennis are awesome...and MIke can never be replaced..Bravo
Love this !! Lets give credit to Mike Stern for writing this awesome mood piece / composition that the Brckr Bros were able to display their ballad chops on.
Stern truly has written a number of excellent slow tempo melodies over the years, simliar to this one with great chord contrstruction and resolution. They typically involve saxophone as well (ie, Bob Berg, Bob Malach, Bob Franceschini, et al). This particular tune was just guitar + band on Sterns cd Odds and Evens (1991).
@OfficialChannelOfHi Michael had (and still has) a greater influence on sax players today than Randy has to trumpet players....Randy is a GREAT player, but Michael is a LEGENDARY MONSTER of the sax....Randy did not transform the entire paradigm of trumpet playing like Michael did for sax players. I still love them both!
Every Mike's solo is something magic...it looks like wrote down on a method for the perfect improvisor...every note with the right energy...the right sense..musically and rithmically...the only one great master of all times...
@SelmerMarkVI66 I've got the sheet music if you want. I'm performing this chart with a small band next week, love it to death. hit me your email address and I'll forward it to you if you want

Wiltner...Coltrane was not a founding Father of Be Bop. No Big Deal. Karrowarro02, are you fucking crazy? Dennis Chambers is one of the best drummers out there!
Michael Brecker is the 'standard' for so many tenor players the world over. Coltrane and Parker are the founding fathers of modern be bop saxophone playing. Randy Brecker seemed to be the creative genius of the brothers, writing all the best tunes. This is one of Mike Stern's finest compositions though.
Yes Coltrane was a revolutionary but Michael and Randy both were huge pioneers in Jazz Fusion and Jazz/Rock combo, so in a way Brecker was a bit of a revolutionary
@usetheforce207 Coltrane took the tenor saxophone to places it's never been before, and Michael took it even further after that. You can hear a heavy Coltrane influence in some of the ideas he expresses, but he forged his own path on the instrument.
seriosly michael brecker is the best saxophonist that has ever lived, people say he was influenced by john coltrane but if coltrane was still alive he would say he is influenced by michael brecker
@mbos4115 You its is funny no one like Kenny but I never really hear why and did you know he is like the most sold artist for instrumental music so what is all the I don't like kenny a bout please tell me?
I saw this performance when they played in London, Brecker was so influential in my life , it was like loosing a friend when he died. He was the best!
i've searching a vid of this song... then i saw this one! first time i knew about breckers borthers... michael is great! may he rest well in heaven! God Bless his soul! thanks very much for posting this vid!
Waited for this video to come online for a long time. What a band. All the songs they play here are better than on the live cd they made for this tour.
One of Mike Stern's best tunes ever. Great solo by Mike Brecker. One of his most soulful, if not the most. Great band. Thanks for posting, CGM. I've also been looking for this tune.

@Gummi20 If you can tell what chords he's improvising over then it's probably an arpeggio pattern (probably a 3rd inversion)
