I can't stand people who misuse history. Around the 50 minute mark he starts talking about Winthrop and his sermon on the Arbella, A MODEL OF CHRISTIAN CHARITY. Akins uses Winthrop's idea that this new country should be a beacon, an example to the world of freedom from big government. If anything, Winthrop's sermon (which is not really about government) was about the importance of having a strong government to guide its people.

I get the feeling that the only people who have listened to this are people who are already aware.

One thing you can be sure of is that the lawmakers who need to hear this are all off somewhere else--probably enjoying themselves.
