From 1974-1980, the three hottest acts on the planet were Linda Ronstadt, The Eagles and Fleetwood Mac. Their concert ticket sales, album sales and chart positions verify that!
Lindsay, Christine, Mick, Stevie, John. How did 5 mediocre musicians and songwriters produce so many masterpiece performances in the course of a couple decades? I'm starting believe ieve ieve ieve in miracles or that in fact, they are 5 of the finest muscians who ever gathered together as a band to create music that transcends generations.
Hmm....I suppose I'd say Lindsey. I would buy an argument for either of the other two, but I consider Lindsey to be the best at what he does out of those three, so I'll vote for him. It's hard to pass up John, though, because - even though I don't think he's as good at the bass as Lindsey is at the guitar - great guitarists are plentiful and comparatively it's SO much harder to find great bassists. Tough call.
@RyGuy913 i'd buy into argument of either 3. John's written some very memorable bass lines ,Christine has written several of the band's biggest hits, & Lindsey's not just overlooked as a guitarist but as an overall musician. true it's harder to find good bassists because they normal dont get alot of credit.
@theddt7 That's hilarious! I know, Mick looks like an idiot here. Also, it's no wonder Christine developed carpal tunnel syndrome given the way she's playing her keyboard. Holding arms out and up is a recipe for CTS. Perhaps the magnums of champagne she downed before & after every show, plus the "rails of coke" (as Chris described them) "numbed" the pain - just a tad perhaps? Still don't know why Stevie "Oreck vacuum" Nicks had to snort so much powder up her nose. Maybe to tolerate Mick & LB?
@Splentaur Excuse me, but I have no idea what your comment has to do with mine. If you are insinuating that your ignorance of music I never created is license to refute personal opinions of a band I personally admire (and can do so with a sense of humor, as in this case), then you are perhaps mentally challenged? Or as we used to simply put it - you are a fucking retard? Is that about it? Oh, and we all know Chris never had CTS & Stevie never had a coke problem unless you write music. Right?
@Splentaur Did you pick up Ass Hole 101 from the Obama campaign? You know, try to personally attack someone that is speaking about a third party. Are you a member of Fleetwood Mac? Do you personally know any of the members, past or present? Do you have information that refutes anything I inferred in my original post? Do you have any sense of humor? I wasn't aware that failure to write music disqualifies one to comment on well, anything? I am sick of harpes that think they are just so cute.
@redletter2008 jesus, in the middle of all that rabid ranting I thought you could've at least mentioned one song produced by your obviously immense talent. I just hope it feels good to put down those who have obtained musical greatness, the likes of which, you could never know.
@Splentaur Where did you come up with the idea that I don't like Fleetwood Mac's music? Just because I justifiably said Mick looked like an idiot in THIS clip or referenced Stevie's HUGE cocaine use (it did happen even it you chose to ignore it). BTW I am a huge Stevie Nicks/FM fan. If you were also, you would likely have seen me comment positively on numerous other FM videos (check ANY of them out). In your world, those that refuse to worship a singer have to be able to write music? WTF is that
FYI....did you know "Animal" from the Muppet Show was supposedly a composite of Mick Fleetwood and Keith Moon (the Who)....look at Mick's expressions here....totally "Animal"......

In this video, Chris is playing a Roland EP-10. Ordinarily, she'd play a pianet (not a clavinet) onstage -- same manufacturer (Hohner) but different board.
I loved all their great songs. Christine had such a velvety, smooth voice.
A great deal of people influenced by Stevie Nicks forget that Stevie said many times that she was kind of insecure singing with Christine because she thought her and everyone else felt Christine was such a better singer than Christine.
On this and other songs, it's remarkable how great a guitar player is Lindsay. He's never mentioned with the greats, but he was and is awesome.
Who is that on drums? Bin Ladin? I kid I seriously love Fleetwood Mac but I have never seen this video. I was 2 when this song came out but it is a timeless classic!
@uclrichard They all look better before they let themselves be butchered. Look at Priscilla Presley and what a mess her face is now. It doesn't even look like herself now. Sad business.
aptAmerica11... if you new anything about music you would realize that without the tight rhythm section eg mick fleetwood, john mc vie this band would not have had the same success.
All 5 members bought something to this band. Together they became FLEETWOOD MAC .......................... AMEN!!!!!!!
fleetwood mac was originally created by a guy called peter green...probably one of the best guitarrists ever...he wrote most of their early hits black magic woman etc...but mcvie is very good
I never said she wrote most of the songs. Looks like that was someone else's comments. McVie said it herself on the most recent documentary that the reason she left the band was because she didn't like the way she was being treated and she didn't like the direction they were going. She made the stand herself by just opting out.
Damn straight! Christine know that I am so understanding of the bs you had to deal with. You are the one! Flip mick stev lyndsfor not putting you and your beautiful voice in front. Greed is not class.
@clubmidnightsun Christine says she never wanted to be up front. She was comfortable where she was playing the keyboards. I also disagree with you saying she wrote the most songs for FM that were hits. She may have wrote the most for FM because she was in the band longer than Stevie/Lindsey but they wrote some good songs that were big hits too. They were an incredible band, with 3 of the most talented singer-songwriters ever. And also one of the best rhythm sections around (Mick+John).
<3 FM! I love when the video for this song splits to Lindsey and Christine. Lindsey B. looks soooooo sexy with his facial hair and curly afro! Then when you hear Stevie's voice in the background all throughout the song...It makes it that. much. better.
Lindsay's guitar work on the live version is so much more fun than the album version. They did release a second (the FM play) version a few years ago, and thats great too.
I grew up listening to this music on FM radio ... memories of driving to Cedar Lake from Menomonee Falls in the mid 70s when I was seven or eight, where this track might be followed by the Starlight Vocal Band or Abba or 'Paperback Writer' and it all seemed to meld into one.
Listening to it now, though, I'm struck by how much the sound, especially John McVie's bass line, reminds of some of the best NZ pop/punk from the 80s ... The Clean, The Chills, etc.
Well what can you say ,this is when you have to actually be talented and not rely on backing machines, loops, mixers and some mass marketing producer.Real legendary music.
i use to work at pizza hutt when i was young bout 15yrs ago. I was 15 then, this song use to play in the background. I've only just come across it again and Mean! Didnt realise it was fleetwood mac. I love thier songs..Too much!
Great performance by the mighty Fleetwood Mac. Mick Fleetwood and John McVie have to be one of the greatest rhythm sections in Rock music ever. And the song itself is just another fine tune by the ever underrated Christine McVie!
But how can you say that? EVERYTHING Stevie and Lindsey do literally drips of West Coast...? I'll agree that FM in general has the British sound but since the mid 70's things have changed a bit, I reckon. You can't deny the American influence on the band since these two joined, and it isn't all bad.
Christine McVie retired and lives in England. She apparently does small solo projects though. I never got to see Fleetwood Mac in concert and wish and hope that she'd come out of retirement just one more time. I must say that she is a very alluring woman and appears even more refined with age.
Yes, that would be nice. Saw there tour in '09 and it was wonderful. But how much more sweet it would have been with her in it as well! This song is not the same without her! ;)
can't believe they didn't perform seven wonders!!! however this song rocked tonight!!! i thought stevie lacked a bit. i'm not complaining. free concert :)
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
The whole thing about FM hating eachother is nonsense. As has gone on record, Stevie and Christine had a long standing lesbian relationship from 1975 until the early 80's. Stevie's brief marriage to Kim Anderson was broken up by Christine's

True talent, subtle the most accurate description of Fleetwood Mac,
everyone does there parts, lindsey and christie harmonize their
instruments, in rythm and lead, then john and mick provide
backbeat, the strongest backbeat in rock, FM #3 Zep #2 Bonham and JPJones Skynard #1 the great Artimus Pyle
and Hatman the strongest backbeat in rock on their prime, listen to live from Knebworth
england show you will agree, Strong company, if Skynard would not have crashed they would have outsold all.

Turbans are not a Muslim custom bro. Time to get out of your ghetto and see the world.

@ 91nickt Hey -- I'm sorry! I just think he just looks quite slim here compared to nowadays. No big deal, buddy. Let's be friends!

@91nickt - you are a sexist bigot.

Why was Christine not at the latest concert ?

Christine McVie retired and lives in England. She apparently does small solo projects though. I never got to see Fleetwood Mac in concert and wish and hope that she'd come out of retirement just one more time. I must say that she is a very alluring woman and appears even more refined with age.

Yes, that would be nice. Saw there tour in '09 and it was wonderful. But how much more sweet it would have been with her in it as well! This song is not the same without her! ;)

@krankyseven
She prefers to have a life without the Mac.

I am jerking off while imagining that I am doing a horizontal tango with Stevie.
That woman was the hot chick in the biz in those days. She isn't bad looking now but life in our 20 somethings is different that in our 50s.
For one thing - my hormones aren't as crazy as they were back then and I doubt her's are as well.

yeah i read that he kicked stevie and Christine slapped him and threw a drink on him backstage during the tusk tour in new zealand

The whole thing about FM hating eachother is nonsense. As has gone on record, Stevie and Christine had a long standing lesbian relationship from 1975 until the early 80's. Stevie's brief marriage to Kim Anderson was broken up by Christine's
intense jealousy.
