I wish more people acknowledge Malcolm later in his life, not just draw that stupid contrast of MLK (nonviolence) vs. Malcolm (violence). Truly one of the most incredible people that has ever existed. He has very directly and positively affected my own life.
Thank you so much for posting this tribute to Malcolm X. The song is so fitting. He truly is a hero and will be one forever. I just hate that we were deprived of his vision.
Thank YOU for posting this video... It brought tears to my eyes to see him with Muhammed Ali. Ali was able to witness so much in his time including our first black President be inaugarated. Wish Mr. X was alive to see it. He's was there in spirit!!!
JulianJaxx, thank you brotha for making such a sincere video involving MY HERO too! This song has always been equated to Dr. King, but it has just as much wait with Malcom as well. Hey Stubbie70, this past week has been a wonderful tribute to such a "Brilliant Human Being"-Malcolm X. Back during this time, I lived at 40W. 135th & Lennox. Not that far away. Love Ya,
I'm not going to lie i cried like a baby last night b/c all I could think about was this man and Martin, Medgar, Emmitt, and the four little girls who were killed in Birmingham. This victory is about them.
Do we as a people realize the bravery it took for him to do and say what he did WHEN he said it? I think we should all use his courage and integrity as an example to speak up when someone needs to speak up. Not all of us can go down in the history books but when people remember me they will always remember my uncompromising honesty. That one of the major lessons I learned from Malcolm, don't stand silent
pour connaitre tout son venu et voir l etre qu il est devenu a la fin je dis que c est un homme tout simplement exceptionnel..que dieu l acceuille avec les justes gens
Here's hoping one of those ass-wipe fashion houses doesn't take Malcolm's image and slap it on over-priced, branded, made-in-China-en-masse clothing accessories. That wd be the ultimate 'pits'!!
I was given The Autobiography of Malcom X when i was 16 by my first boyfriend - it changed my life and was the best thing i have read todate and i am now 54. It should be mandatory reading for all. AWF
It has been documented that our govt, namely the CIA & FBI infiltrated black organizations. So with that said it was the government that killed my beloved brother. He is our black shining Prince. The late great Ossie Davis said it so eloquently. This song brings me to tears. The life our our beloved brother, & the change he so desperately try to bring about brings me to tears. He wanted so much for us, because he loved us so!
hell yes I am a Muslim and love the nation although I practice diffently know I never can forget Brother X nor the Nation of Islam nor The Most Hon. E Muhammad or Muhammad , /so many of us go for what the devil tell us . Us the brain Allah gave us
I really wish more people really new, Brother Malcolm and what he really stood for. I believe then that he would be far more elivated than he has been. He has helped me become a better person and father to my son and better husband to my wife. I love you Malcolm and thanks for all that you stood for.
"Our people have made the mistake of confusing the methods with the objectives. As long as we agree on objectives, we should never fall out with each other just because we believe in different methods or tactics or strategy. We have to keep in mind at all times that we are not fighting for separation. We are fighting for recognition as free humans in this society."
--Malcolm X
they may have had different METHODS, but their OBJECTIVES were the same, hence they weren't so opposite.
this will sound shallow but looking at this video with the song and all - i must say that malcolm x was one sexy rugged looking guy - dont let username fool you - i am female lol
We should pay homage to the man. He is the embodiment of redemption and devotion. Regardless of how people may have differed from his views, he stands as a man who simply changed his life--something we all can do--and fought for something he believed in. Every night he entered his home justified. At least I think. He died justified, something very few accomplish.
El Hajj Malik El Shabazz was a great man. I don't understand how he did it. After the white man, burned his home, killed his dad , harrased his mom, and eventually put her in a institution, how could he eventually become one with them. Which he did after he got back from Mecca. And his whole, "Blonde haired, blue-eyed devil" thing. I understand why, but honestly, I couldn't do that. R.I.P. El Hajj Malik El Shabazz
The Nation of corruption were/are not muslims, they just label themselves muslims but don't have a clue about what Islam is, this man after realizing that he left the nation and studied the real religion of Islam and become a real muslim. So he became a martyr.
He was a race pimp who damaged the black image and laid the foundation for such atrocities as the "Reverands" Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson. Why can't you see the problems that your own outlook brings upon yourself? Whitey is not doing anything to you. You are doing it all to yourselves. Period. And, in advance, fuck any unintelligible and aggressive responses.
Nice to see you are in hate mode. Malcolm X did more good than bad . That is more than each one of us can say in our lifetime. Look at the way you make a conscious effort to do some name bashing...You probably don't believe...Bet you are not one of those that can turn around and realize that you were just talking crap and apologize for your bad text.
"Nice to see you are in hate mode." This is the standard refrain. I'm amazed that you didn't call me a "racist." If I'm wrong, how do your reconcile the fact that MLK, a truly GREAT person, did not condone X and his rhetoric? Was MLK in "hate mode" when he criticized X?
BEING BORN ANYTHING BUT WHITE IN THIS COUNTRY,IS A CONSTANT STRUGGLE,AND BLACK PEOPLE DIDNT ENSLAVES THEMSELVES.IGNORANT COMMENT. ALL OF US TRULY DONOT BELONG HERE,THIS IS NOT OUR NATIVE LAND. IT SHOULD BELONG TO THE NATIVE AMERICANS..IF WE ARE GOING TO SPEAK THE TRUTH,LETS SPEAK ABOUT ALL OF IT. I LOVE BEING AN AMERICAN,DONT GET ME WRONG. BUT WHAT IS GOING ON TODAY..TO US AS AMERICANS...."the chickens have come home to roost!" We are in a race war here at home and all over the world.
"BLACK PEOPLE DIDNT ENSLAVES THEMSELVES." Wrong again. Blacks have been, historically, the biggest purveyors of slavery. Not only did blacks enslave their conquered enemies in tribal Africa, blacks sold their own to white slave traders during the height of world slavery. Blacks, and blacks alone, are responsible for their inability to function in the modern world. Sorry.
GITCHIGOOMI---was correct. Africans did in fact enslaves themselves. My gf corrected me so I would be the ignorant comment poster. ....i think i will go back to watching espn.......
You are truly a "tool of confusion".What purpose do you serve other than to incite and distract people who are here to enjoy the video tribute to Malcolm X? I dont know you but you are not going to dominate this arena if I have anything to say about this. You accuse other people of being aggressive and unintelligent but look at your comments.Totally Disrespectful! You are not wanted here!
My mom remembered the day, she sad it was like the sun would not go down. This was the last movie she and I saw together in the theater. She has since passed.
Greatness can never be replaced, and never totally diminished
True Islam, what most of the Muslims in the world believe(Sunni or orthodox) breaks all racial barriers...Malcolm saw this while in Mecca and came back to America, only to be assassinated.... Very sad. Great tribute posted here!!
I am currently reading the autobiography of this great man and it has lead me to have have unrelenting compassion for my people. Honestly, hus book has changed my life and I deeply encourage others to read it if they ever get a chance. Those pictures combined with this soulful song brought tears to my eyes. I only hope that I can can be half the man that Malcolm X was. Thanks for the upload!
A great and informative video. It is good to see the photographs of Malcolm smiling and laughing and looking totally at ease and happy. So often he has been portrayed as always serious and one-dimensional.
I loved Malcom X...he really loved his people and wanted what was best and right for Blacks....Malcom X was true to himself and he will always have my love and respect.
great video i think people these days need more history in the class rooms, and everywhere. i wore a Malcom X shirt to school and someone put a note in my losker calling me a racist, and i just thought they dont know their history how sad.
I never knew Donny did it originally, I thought it was Aretha. But whether it was sang by Aretha or Donny it's a powerful, beautiful song that gives us all hope.
"We declare our right on this earth...to be a human being, to be respected as a human being, to be given the rights of a human being in this society, on this earth, in this day, which we intend to bring into existence by any means necessary."
Listening to the words of Donnie Hathaway was as if the spirit of Malcolm reached out, touched me and empowered my spirit. I love Malcolm, although I never met him personally, he was like a father to me, the father I never had. He is my role-model and I strive to be like him everyday. Malcolm is my living manhood and conscious. What a magnificent warrior, soldier, leader, teacher and guide we lost on February 21st, 1965.
My father met Malcolm back in 1961. He mentioned that he was very tall and spoke with such eloquence.
I believe what has been mentioned about Malcolm's macho manner, it showed in his body language and during his speeches when he'd speak with such power. I miss him and I wasn't born until 20 years after his death. In my opinon, there could never be another Malcolm X. Though often imitated, when he died, we lost an intelligent, honest, and overall great man.
To see the three great M's in one video is so inspiring!!! Look no further: Malcolm, Martin and Muhammad are great examples of how to lead by serving. Who said good guys come second?
Their are not enough words in the english dictionary that could describe how magnificent and wonderful this man was. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for posting this. GOD BLESS YOU
donnie hathaways voice cuts to your soul. this almost brought a tear to my eyes. and there are no words for brother malcolm. they left us way too soon. but their presence is still felt today in each of their respected places.
You really need to learn to read for understanding, my good man, "Drassie." I said, "Malcolm is (a) man in response to your comment that, "Malcolm is (the) man. He's not "The Man." He is (a) man.
yo mad respect for this video andtha song man. man so talented and so gifted boh of those men were. wow . thats tha type of ppl we need now days. LEADERS. every body is a follower
Malcolm was an incredible human being. Lets keep his legacy alive by striving to embody what he was so desperately trying to bring to the attention of the world. That we need to be a loving people, a peaceful people, a dignified people, a compassionate and kind people. A people who struggle to make this world a better place.
I would have to cosign on that thought..Malcolm an activist and one of the most prolific leaders of the century and Donny Hathaway a brilliant artist with a soul stirring voice...They left us to soon.
extremely moving set of images. And Donny Hathaway is up to the task.

nice use of donny, appreciate the effort put in here, julian.
sadly enuff we lack any leaders today with the strength and integrity of a malcolm, george jackson, lumumba etc, etc.
at what point did all of our leaders become business men? an inherent conflict-of-interest that no one seems to be able to identify.
malcolm scared people cuz he was willing to die for them.
could we say the same of obama, hillary, al sharpton or al gore? the thought is absurd & ridiculous, no? - funny but sad.

How to recognize when Blacks are free:
They strive to do business with each other.
Their celebrities exclusively marry other blacks.
Successful blacks elect to live in black areas.
Black-on-black crime is a distant memory.
These things don't just happen because we dream, but you can patronize a black-owned business TODAY!

I never knew Donny did it originally, I thought it was Aretha. But whether it was sang by Aretha or Donny it's a powerful, beautiful song that gives us all hope.

May Allah rest soul in pradise!.
He was a warrior, a true icon for freedom, self-identity, and Black nationalism.

For anyone who read my previous comment and is confused. I meant to say "gender", not "sexuality":).

Make that a little less than 20 years.

To see the three great M's in one video is so inspiring!!! Look no further: Malcolm, Martin and Muhammad are great examples of how to lead by serving. Who said good guys come second?

No, "drassie" Malcolm is (a) man.

You must be very stupid!!! I never siad Malcolm wasn't a man. You are very crazy to think that I wouldn't know his sexuality.
drassie 5 years ago
You really need to learn to read for understanding, my good man, "Drassie." I said, "Malcolm is (a) man in response to your comment that, "Malcolm is (the) man. He's not "The Man." He is (a) man.

BEAUTIFUL
Malcolm was an incredible human being. Lets keep his legacy alive by striving to embody what he was so desperately trying to bring to the attention of the world. That we need to be a loving people, a peaceful people, a dignified people, a compassionate and kind people. A people who struggle to make this world a better place.
